Surely you remember that.

Yes, I do recall. But I also recall wishing for earplugs during any performance that included violins.

I just noticed on Strava that a guy I follow is recording his ski runs. :D

Yes, violins and brass.

And reeds, especially the double reeds.

Yes, especially the cacophony that results from young kids playing them.

Out of the embouchures of babes oft times come painful sounds.

6500 for the year…….. Hopefully that is not the end number.

Mo, That sounds like what it could be. I got on the bike last night immediately after taking ice off my leg which may be why the pain was worse.

Talking to another cyclist who has this, keeping knees warm is just one of the many steps.

Yes, warm is good. If it is chondromalacia, which is the most likely thing statistically, then backing off on the miles and intensity and doing the quad exercises should help. I've had it a few times when I started a running season a little too aggressively. Hurts a lot and takes a while to get better. If it doesn't, skip the ortho and go straight to sports medicine.

Ice after the ride. If you ice before, you are doing nothing but tightening things up when you should be stretching and warming. Sequence should be: warm - stretch - ride - ice/anti-inflammatory.

Yeah, but mine was in 200 fewer hours. :p

Then again, I'm more of a draft horse and I climb like one. :o

NA beer - it's the latest recovery trend.

Well now it all makes sense. lol.

He recommended gluca something to supplement. Any of you guys know what that is? I’ll pick some up today when I get back from houston.

Probably Glucosamine.

There is some evidence it might help with degenerative arthritis of the knee, but studies are conflicting. The best studies use 1500mg/day. Safe and harmless, ok to try.

They just need to work on some curb appeal - stop using that elbow grease to cling on to mining and instead clean up some of the junk-strewn front yards, maybe not lean in to the whole Confederacy thing so much and bring some more of the local arts and sights to the fore.

Indeed. Mrs. GeneJockey likes to try to play the baboon bassoon. Nowadays, she does it in the garage, with the doors closed. Better for all concerned.

Our former home was in extreme se Ohio. That red and purple area was and is a major center for Oxy, heroin, meth, weed, alcohol, ignorance, you name it. The guy who bought our farm burned the barn down with his meth lab. It's also a major center for poverty due to lack of education and job opportunities. There are families who have been on welfare for generations, and know nothing else. And, as whyfi mentioned, it is beautiful country.

WhyFi 11-18-21 10:19 AM

Oof. I keep a couple of hoodies hanging on the coat hooks and I'll toss one on whenever I'm chilly (which isn't too uncommon now that we have to heat the house). Anyway, I threw one on just now and it was *instantly* apparent that I was wearing it when I made murgh makhani (butter chicken) from scratch the other night. Smells wonderful when you cook it, not so much when it's clinging to clothing days later.

I am only fast on long hills. The fat men clean my clock on anything short and punchy.
