30 miles 16.4 avg speed. I was surprised I didn't feel good to start but didn't get tired until the end.
A couple of weeks ago, I rode in a 45 mile event here in town, on NO sleep at all. Thought I would be in trouble, but I could've gone many more miles. You just never know. |
Funny how the energy to ride comes and goes. One day you have it, the next not. Or start fast to end slow, or vice versa.
Did 35 yesterday, but only got like a 15mph average--was a bit surprised, but 15 miles was dirt with wind, and I spent lots of time in 30x21 on hills (turned around when 30x23 wasn't cutting it--steep and gravelly). That got my my 100 mile goal for the week but since next couple of days will be rainy I did a meager 20 today; had plans to do some stuff before dinner and didn't want to be too worn out. |
cool people!

47 today, 15.25 avg speed. Ventura,CA to Summerland, just south of Santa Barbara. Cool, foggy morning drizzle, great ride.
|
Just my normal 16 miles after work, but a good ride nonetheless!
|
Just over 12, in between rainstorms. Between fatigue, maintenance projects, work, and rain, I hadn't been on the bike yet this month. The few minutes were well worth the few rain drops and mud splatters

I did 22.6 on my Fuji Absolute hybrid this morning.
|
18.5 miles 15.7 avg speed. I was tired from drinking and watching the Cavs finally play a good game last night. Plus trying to find a creak while riding. lol
|
Before the rains came, AGAIN, 121 miles.
|
14 miles, 13.5 average on a 44 x 16 SS.
|
52.4 miles at 16.4, a personal best avg speed for over 50 miles.

57 miles before the Tucson heat turned up.

Ugh, did 20 miles (1,500ft climbing, 15.2mph avg per MMR) on Sat, went out dehydrated and ran out of water in the 85F weather. Went to do 40 yesterday, took lots of water but felt wasted after 30 and all but crawled the last ten (ate a huge huge lunch and it took hours to feel normal afterwards, 42 miles 2,700ft climbing and a lousy 15.4mph). I got out before the heat but I think it was too much for me, once it hit 80 in the sun... my Irish blood boils off I guess. I later burned my shoulders through a tee shirt while doing minor yardwork.
Supposed to hit 90 today? Taking the day off. Too hot for me. :( |
41 miles out to a covered bridge and back on Saturday. I left late, it was hotter than I expected and I ran out of water. Luckily I planned the route to go by a bike shop on the way home, they hooked me up with water so I could finish the last 10 miles.
41.6 miles, 2880ft, 15mph avg, and I set a PR on one section. https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...82&oe=599C8015 |

Had really overtaxed myself the past few weeks, overcompensating after spending the better part of two months off the road with a broken hand. Was seeing significantly depressed HR, including a day where at max output I couldn't get my HR above 146, which is normally middle Z2. Have been trying to dial back intensity down the 60% range (power), and take every other day off. I've overdone it enough times to now know that HR is just telling me that I'm exhausted.
Nevertheless, after Sunday off (if spending 15 hours on my feet at Universal Studios counts as a day off,) a flat ride on Monday (41 miles with 1,270ft,) and then Tuesday off, I felt rested enough to put some more coal on the fire this morning. 30.8 miles with 2,090ft @ 16.1mph average-- managed to split up the zone distribution quite nicely and get my HR up to 170bpm, which is the highest I've seen it in a good while. Even picked up a few PRs on segments I've crossed 40+ times, so I'm pretty happy with today's effort. Would have been a driveway-to-driveway without unclipping ride, but I had to hop a forestry service gate and then shoulder the bike over the Zanja Creek, so I was off the bike about 60 seconds total. |
50 miles steady pace.

I did 35mi with my wife and a friend then went solo to finish out 75mi. That's a nice 10mi past my age and I was sorry I didn't have time to pull another 30. I started to feel my legs at 64mi but finished strong and am sure I could have pulled off another 25!

Garmin screen showed 105 miles yesterday, BUT actual was 104.98 so I just missed it.

took the 7 speed Glendale out for a ride today

Relaxed 25 mile ride. Attacked by a highland cow though.

10th st in Emmaus
I did 45 miles with 3600 ft of climbing at 15.8 mph. I managed to get up 10th st in Emmaus w/o problem, but spun the rear wheel on a wet tar snake on Beverly Hills road and almost lost it. It was a nice ride.

15miles with daughter before work
|
4 miles. Its not much but its my second day on a bike in almost 2 decades. Was dying at the end but pedaled the whole shebang at least.
|
Finally put in some 50 milers this week.
