Cool morning ride. High of 77 F and almost not wind. Road 35 miles. GP5000 tires getting ready to need replacement. Thinking of going tubeless or convert to latex tubes.

There's a taco truck that popped up in an area I ride thru that had some delic crispy & soft corn tacos. I opt'd to try the crispy (I do my best to diciplne oneself!) as I commented the tuffy decision. The very kind lady handed me both & would only accept cash for the one. At a later ride date, I noticed the truck again. Went over to just have one crispy, & she did it again. I tried, once again, paying for both with extra on top... no go. I said it was a tip, still declined. If I encounter a third sight seeing, I'm determined to compensate for those tasty tacos!
The salsa was on it's A game too for a blast of mouth flavors. Could use a bit more spiciness, but I am outlier when it comes to such heat, where most might think I have an iron stomach. lol

i think you ride enuff to forego the "discipline." opt in.

if i ever move from the san diego county area, the handful of things i will miss are as follows (and in order of importance):

the mexican food scene.

riding the 50 miles north/south backcountry package of: julian/palomar/mesa grande/anza-borrego state park/cuyamaca state park/laguna mountains areas.

the craft beer scene.

balboa park.

riding the coast from cabrillo national monument up to oceanside (mostly) along the pacific coast highway.

torrey pines state park/state beach.

Do you anticipate a lifestyle change involving a move in your future?

It has taken a lifetime to build up the discipline against the drug of food.

naah...will likely be in the san diego area for the next 7-10 years. obviously not inexpensive tho. have thought about elsewhere in the (semi) temperate west.

Not one mile or Km. Mystery location. Hint: above the Arctic Circle (ie not L.A.)

Norway or one of those out of the way Scandinavian places? I cross-country skied in Norway. Outstanding but not that far north. And the food, oh, the endless smoked, pickled and wonderous fishes!!!! Breakfast, lunch and diner.

In my haste to praise Norwegian fishy things....

Yesterday my 15.6 mile, 700 foot loop where I did see Leif again, standing tall and proud to be a Norwegian in Seattle!

Troul 08-16-22 05:37 AM

31 miles. the sky was clear.

WilliamT 08-16-22 06:09 AM

111 miles yesterday. I've been learning to take longer breaks and as a result I don't get any aches or a sore butt. I even got a strawberry danish at the 75 mile mark which was great. That was a 15-20 min break. I've also been using Tailwind mix in my water which has really kept me going.

16mi and change on the gravel bike. Here is the elevation profile for the last 1.05mi. First time I made it up the hill was Sunday, 2nd time was today. For the last 6 years I've walked it, progress!

diphthong 08-17-22 09:34 AM

out of town 27-spot. blew through a stop-sign with a half-hearted attempt to slam on the brakes since the po-po was po-posted up
down from the stop sign. no interaction so lucked out.

75 miles. Wind started to get annoying. 63 miles were hard tempo but my knee started bothering me, last 12 were zone 2 ish.

biker128pedal 08-17-22 07:08 PM

26 mile ride today. Almost a group ride but the others saw the rain clouds on the phone radar. I thought I could make it. Temperature was 81 F at the start. Dropped and started to rain in the last 4 miles. Temperature dropped to 61 F. Was chilly. Made to back to the car soaked. But a good ride. I have to drop my glasses down or take the off in the rain to rinse the stinging sweat out of my eyes. On the way home in the car the rain stopped.
