They hardly need a brake at all, I reckon so many are running hydraulics (mostly XTR) just because that's what the sponsors give 'em.

I got an unbelievably good price on my upcoming flight back to Merida, but $85 in checked bag fees(2). The second being $55. Never heard of that.
On the health front, a good friend finally went to the doc, with a variety of mild symptoms. Stage three adrenal cancer. He survived the surgery-- they took a kidney, the adrenal gland and part of a major vein. He survived the radiation, and is now on chemo pills for five years, at least . We had a nice visit yesterday.
On the personal health front, my left knee has had enough of this daily hill riding. Yesterday I had pain in the legs while riding, a thing that never happens. Today I can hardly walk, due to said knee.

I don't have to worry about that. My check won't clear.

For example, on my Taycan, the first recommended service interval is 20,000 miles, and that calls for just a cabin filter and brake fluid flush.

I was G.M. electric car certified starting in 2009, took a lot of classes before the release of the Volt. Electric cars are quite complex and while they might not have a lot of scheduled maintenance they certainly have their share of failures and service issues. Some days I would only work on e-cars and I assume if there were millions on them on the road there would be a need for service technicians every day.
Don't forget that some dealers treat the service dep't. as a necessary evil and don't depend on service to keep them afloat. I worked at a dealer where the service dep't was treated as such.

Why not stay in Ohio for a while?

When is it on? I'm getting tired of swimming. Does anyone actually swim the breast stroke in real life? It's dumb.

Or do like Mercedes did with a car my wife had some years ago. The HVAC air ducting was run in such a way that condensation water would accumulate in a low spot and never dry out. As a result, it would get a musty mildew smell. She was taking it in every three months or more frequently to get it "fixed", which meant they sprayed something into the HVAC intake. A few more months later it stank again. Fortunately, it was all under warranty, but we got rid of it after about two years since she had to take it in so often.

When I was at Buick there was a model which had that problem. The fix was to install an "after blow" relay to run the a/c blower after shut-down to dry the evaporator casing and prevent mold. We loved the name, after blow.

I've heard of 'afterglow'....

That tyre DougRNS gave me says minimum PSI is 110. That's pretty hardcore. 90-100 is what I roll at.

I often do a modified breast stroke wherein I keep my head out of the water, that way I don't have to give myself brain damage shaking the water out of my ears after a swim.

BMX finals were yesterday.

When I swim laps in my pool, I tend to use the breast stroke. By "laps", I mean swimming back to the shallow end after diving into the deep end, because I usually put my beer in the shade at the shallow end. I don't use my pool for exercise.

Are sporting events not real life?

Search "Eurobike" on Amazon.

There is also a popular thread discussing its virtues.

If you don't have a pool it can be hard to go skinny dipping.

LesterOfPuppets 07-30-21 03:54 PM

I exercise in the pool some. Usually treading water with arms only. It's much easier than laps.

Velo Vol 07-30-21 03:54 PM

It's the weekend.

It was already there when we bought the house (we would have bought the house even if it didn't have a pool). My kids have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it, and it also turns out that floating on a raft while enjoying chilled beverages with the wife and a few good friends is a really pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Sometimes those afternoons have extended late into the evening. However, that was before my youngest started playing travel softball. The pool gets a lot less use these days.

True. The neighbors tend to complain a lot more when you do it in their pool.

When it's over 100 all day it feels good to get in the pool. Sometimes I would just hang my feet in there. Doesn't have to be for exercise.

And pool parties? OMG! Nothing like having a bunch of bikinis in your backyard. I rented (shared) a house with a pool in the 70s. Good times and the last thing we thought about was exercise.

BikesDirect.com
CEO SAYS:
CHANGES COMING
AUGUST 1st

Happy Friday! Hello and thank you for being a valued customer. We hope this email finds you well.
We are writing to update you with some important changes coming August 1st.
Everyone at Bikesdirect.com works very hard to bring the best bicycles at the best possible prices. Our CEO who has always fought hard against price increases. The entire bicycle industry has been raising prices. Due to skyrocketing materials costs, parts shortages, container, freight and shipping charges we cannot absorb anymore.
Why is the entire bike industry raising prices up to 30% or more? Container transport costs are a large factor in addition to higher parts costs. Before the pandemic, transporting one container was $3,000 to $5,000. Each holds 300 to 350 bikes. That is about $17 per bike. Recently, prices skyrocketed to $21,000. That is $70 per bike.

https://tamebay.com/2021/07/the-ship...come-down.html
The entire bike industry has already been raising prices up to 30%. Starting August 1st, Bikesdirect.com will be raising prices of many bikes.
For over 20 years Bikesdirect.com continues to be the largest American family owned online bike retailer. Our deals will continue to be the best bang for buck anywhere even after August 1st.

Any chance that is true? I'm not from around here.

There were two pools in my little town. The neighbors had one that wasn't heated, so it always felt cold to me. But they were really friendly and happy to let us swim there, unless they were hosting a party. The one across town (all of 300 yards away, if that) was heated, using the heat from the A/C for the main house. Generally I liked that one better, but there was one really HOT day when the neighbors were hosting a party, so we went over to the heated one. It was like bathwater. It was worse than the air!
