So, on the ride today, just a block away from home, actually, I had a very... unusual experience. A little boy, maybe 9 years old, sees me riding by and he yells, "can I get a hiiiyaaa?!"
Now, if you're not familiar, this is a call and response meme. While the boy pronounced the "hiiyaaa!" along the lines of kids playing karate, the norm is to call back in a most... lascivious manner... suggestive of a (stereotypically Asian) woman in the, uh, throws of passion. The out-of-left-field and totally inappropriate nature of this coming from a young kid totally threw me, and I couldn't do much but stifle a laugh. |
