It’s experiencing the same drought as the rest of the Southwest, with no end in sight?

I will take that as the sarcasm it should be. ;)

I pale compared to you guys.

But, I finally got to the "threshold" level according to Garmin Connect! A long-time friend who is a former triathlete just got a new bike (Domane SL5 like me), and we've started to ride together. He's 10 years younger, and pretty strong, so I have to push myself to keep up with his pace. It's been good.

Too painful to continue

Just happens to. Our high today will be below 90. And yesterday just barely over, at 91.

I rode a bike this morning for the first time in over a week. I hope to make a habit of it.

Were you a mean roller skater back in the glory days?

Velo Vol 04-27-22 11:00 AM

Oh boy.

Plenty of rain here. The rental car was sliding around the wet dirt roads this morning.

French shower bag parker of the day on my corner. Someone left a bag of dog poop on his windshield. Should have omitted the bag.

In Brooklyn, that car would have been yanked off the street with the quickness - they did not play when it came to crosswalk obstruction. A couple blocks over from my old place, there was a T intersection and cars would get towed all the time when they parked on the straight side and failed to notice that they were in the crosswalk.

The Older Boy started a new job this week. Pretty much the same as his old job, but in a different place. But instead of starting at noon, he starts at 8 AM. So, since I'm taking this week off, I shoved the Ritchey in the Dodge and after I dropped him off I went over to Canada and 92 for a ride. I confirmed two things - I can STILL ride at a reasonable clip for 1 1/2 hour on nothing but coffee in the morning, and the Ritchey is a great damn bike! It's not that it disappears under me, it's more that I barely have to think about anything while riding it. It just fits, it just goes, it's comfy, it just shifts with a very quiet click. If I had to choose only ONE bike, it would probably be it.

I spent part of last evening ordering the R8000 bits for the Litespeed, so it will no longer be limited to rides where the worst hill can be done (by me) with at 39x25. I skipped the crankset. I'm gonna see if the 7410 crank will work with the FD and 11 speed chain, but I did get a 10 speed Ultegra inner 39t ring. So, before all the bits arrive and I change it over, I gotta ride the hell out of it at least once.

Makes as much sense as a fat bike does.

Wow. I could see stopping there for 30 seconds to pick up or drop off something. But actually parking there? No bueno.

datlas 04-27-22 11:59 AM

We had a super windy but fun ride today. Beats work!

I work with people who have been down in that salt mine. (It's a big customer as well.) They say it's really cool (literally and figuratively) down there. Our trip was on such short notice that we couldn't arrange a tour. Personally, I have no interest. With my luck, the thing would collapse and I would end up the subject of a Gordon Lightfoot folk song.

I've heard story's about how big the mine is. That's very close to where we had the great, and then the minor ground upheaval few months back.

That thing looks like a ton of parasitic drag, and wasted energy.
