did you purchase an actual Sram version? The Chinese ones on ebay are great, 30 to 35 bux, hard to beat.

I did it to my Reynolds wheel with a file and some masking tape to keep the filings out of the gap. Took an hour, works just fine.

I have a Sram PG-1170 in the parts bin.

Well that makes things a little easier. I’m actually surprised that the 105 rims are still almost 700 dollars. With the whole 105 electronic hitting the shelves, I assumed the price would have dropped more.

I have a pair of Grand Sport Race tires on a set of mavice wheels. They are the newer pure grip compound. I like them a lot. A slightly softer ride than 5k's, slightly higher rolling resistance, and I mean slightly. I am pleased with them.

What pedals are you using? Be aware that the Favero use Look cleats* and that they're different from Shimano SPD-SL.

* = you can buy Duos without pedal bodies and install your Shimano pedals on them, but: a) only Duo and b) you need a set of compatible Shimano pedals to cannibalize.

I recently converted the older 10 speed bikes (09 Tarmac and '11 Tarmac/Contador) to Red 22 which is 11 speed, cable. I needed more gear for hills since I'm a fat ass and suck at weight loss. I purchased 2 med cage Rival derailluers. The 09 had been finicky shifting ever since I converted it to 11 speed. There was always one spot in the cassette that would refuse a downshift and clatter. I could move the spot around with adjustment but not eliminate it. So I decided that I would swap that one first. Turns out I missrouted the cable at the derailluer, that's why it was inconvenient. I had the cable on the wrong side of the fixing bolt! Doh!
now it'll take up to a 32 tooth cassette though.

Garmin has an SPD-SL power pedal. Not sure what it's selling at, though.

edit: Excel has them at $500.

Most of my friends who I ride with have bikes that weigh 16 pounds and fancy power meters/cadence sensors etc.

The Habanero weighs about 19 pounds, with no power meter or cadence.

Industrial green, though it goes by other colors. Common color for machinery, especially machines with big castings. Supposed to be easy on the eyes.
