And they're not slower by any stretch-- they move along at a good clip when clustered up-- but as far as my worthless opinion is concerned, not nearly fast enough to justify the cloud of attitude they exude. I got plenty of over-the-shoulder glances-- as if I were somehow occupying their space. This is typical of my experience with the weekend club rider mentality-- and this would have been an A-level group.

I never intimated I give a crap what they think. Making that pass on a group of 10+ feels to me like one-upsmanship, and I'm not in competition with anyone for anything. Better to just slow down and share the bike lane, rather than jumping out into a gap in traffic to get past a leisurely pace line.

I also never intimated that I'm any better than they are, as a cyclist or as a human being. I made no more effort to be social than they did. But I'm not keeping up any appearances. I don't like most people sight unseen. Once I see more of how people really are, I tend to like them even less.

You know, if you don't want to care what other people think, it helps if you don't trouble yourself imagining what they think in the first place. ;)

Those toolbags are still running that route pretty much every rain/wind/element free weekend, blast down the SART @ 25mph, then go up the gentle grade home at 15mph to roadblock the whole green bike lane. Those are the local serious cyclists. I know they're serious because they exchange at least 30 kudos a weekend for those efforts. Moving at the speed of kudos, they is.

Out for Ice Cream

I got in 60 miles on Saturday. The weather gave us a glimpse of spring and got up to 57°. I was able to switch to shorts 1/2 way throughout the ride. It felt great. So great, I felt I deserved some cilantro-lime ice cream at Owowcow. It was great.

Ride Safe,

Joe

10 miles on some intermediate trails. Bike and I took a pounding today.

Longest ride to date 41.2 Miles. On the Trek.

I've been riding 3.7 miles 3-5 days a week to work on my Schwinn Classic Cruiser. The goal is to double the total on the Trek on weekends. I went 22.2 miles this week. so that means I need to go 44.4 miles on the Trek. So only need to add a few more miles tomorrow.
If I get a rain free week I should get 37 miles in on the Schwinn. going to be bit tougher then.

34.5 miles today, and the first week in months I have ridden 5 days in a row.

Waterfall ride

28 miles. Half flat, half hills. Some gravel/dirt mostly street. Try to ride this route at least once a week. 15.3 avg speed, 1800 feet elevation change. One killer grade, the rest is rolling hills. Major flowers this week.

I've been off my bike all winter, I went for a 2km ride today, with a steep climb at the end. It was quite difficult, but felt good. Today's weather in Tokyo is cold and wet, the cherry blossoms are in the midst of blooming, a little late this year because of the cold.

From today I will ride a little more each day, I have a 2500 km ride in August, and I have four months to prepare.

Your jobs lets you take kids home?

You work in a day care or something?

20 miles with 2000 ft of gain this eve. Some hill repeats with a little kicker at the end. :D

Homer Cooper 04-05-17 09:42 PM

Due to a car failure. I've been comuting to work for the last few week. Today is the end of the first full week. 3.7x2 miles 5 days a week on a Schwinn Classic Crusier.. Averging around 17mins. Though putting "the hammer down" results in a bit of bouncing do to the Schwinns front spring.

Weekends are for distance on the Trek. Legs are recovering quicker it would seem. I may go fo the 40mile dam round trimp this weekend. Maybe push for a metric century.
