7-Eleven team history
 

I am looking for team rosters from the former 7-Eleven cycling teams. I believe the team was active for 10 yrs beginning in 1983. But I could be wrong. I would love any info anyone might have. I am especially looking for actual rosters.

eh...i guess that's all i remember. sorry, no rosters or dates, etc. all i remember is that they were the first US-based team to participate in the tour in '86 and andy hampsten finished 4th. davis phinney won a stage. and i THINK alex stieda was the first member of an american-based team ever to wear the yellow jersey.

btw, Alexi was one of the best American cyclists ever. History won't reflect that, though.

Thanks for the respones. I remember some of the names...not all by far..I have been trying to figure out who rode when..I had a chance to ride along with some of the team in my home town when they came to our "milk races" I think the second year they were there it was sponsored by Lowenbrau!! Never did figure how a beer company sponsored milk races!? Anyway..I believe it would have been 83-85 range..I do know for sure that I rode with Eric Hyden one of the two years. He stayed at a freinds house during his stay there. (Host families). I guess I have too much time on my hands, but I've been trying to place names with dates just to see who may have been working for who and so on. Back then I didn't know much about who the big riders were. We were too busy riding and didn't have time to read and watch TV like I do now as I tell about all I could have been! LOL.....BTW I come from a pretty small town so it was a big thing for a kid into cycling to have these guys stop by. You guys from big cities probably wouldn't think twice. But the 6 or 8 of us that were into cycling talked for months about riding with those guys!

Issues with Work, left to join a new start up, 15 of the new employees came from a certain bank, They replaced the 15 with 40, and the volume dropped 100 million a month. So this bank decided to sue the start up, and although the law suit is frivolous, it scared off our financial backers, the new company was disolved last friday, they owe me $11,000 (net!) in back pay, doubt ill see it, Its been a real mess.

I just havn't had the time or the motivation to follow the forums lately..

Phil Anderson only ever rode for Motorola. He signed with them in 1991. He was with Panasonic and TVM for most of the 80s.

Right about Phil being Motor-only
I think the same applies to Max the British Italian

I ran into John Brady riding in through San Onofre (San Clemente, CA) last summer pushing a 56-12. I told him that was a lot of gear for a 50-year-old! ha ha ha

And we're also forgetting Norm Alvis, one of the nicest guys in the peloton.

Sorry to hear that. Not an easy time. I managed to get away from the whole start-up arena. Now I'm just a drone with a keyboard. But a paid one, which keeps my wife happy and my E5 on the build!

I think it was either Bob Roll or Andy Hampsten who said, "To know Sean Yates is to love Sean Yates."

I think Max Sciandri did ride for 7-11. I remember he showed up at a big criterium in Beverly Hills in the late eighties, pre-Motorola. He was living in L.A. and did the race unattached. He then got picked up by 7-11 and rode domestic races for a year or two. When Motorola happened he got back over to Europe. I might be fuzzy on details, I was racing juniors when all of this was happening.

You are correct, I think he got there right before the transition from & Eleven to Motorola.
