Wow, I hope there are more of this genre?

I want a 7-Eleven Eddy Merckx but the closest i got to owning one is a free small slurpee from 7-Eleven today.

What happened to your "corsa extra" sticker?

It would looks better with sew-ups.

I think the team also had the best looking jerseys.......despite such a humble sounding sponsor........

Gotta luv those 7-Eleven Merckx bikes. Beautiful paint scheme.

technically it’s not a true 7-11 but a tribute 7-11. It started out life as a corsa-01 and then the next owner decided to paint it. I bought the frame from him and it was never built up. I don’t care that it’s not the real deal, but the paint looks amazing. I also just switched out the sew ups to clinchers because Detroit.

Stamp of approval!

Merckx are nice, but I'd rather see Huffy/Murray branded Serottas , or Hampsten's Landshark.

Style, indeed!
Something is gone from today’s cycling.

I have a few nice bikes; I'd step over all of them to get this one out of the house in the event of a fire.

Note how the various rims — silver box, dark/black deeper section, tubular or clincher, spokes few or abundant — all look just great with that bike.

Impeccable condition! Have you ridden it much?
What stem is that?

I ride that bike more than I ride the others, it's my favorite. The stem is a Nitto Dynamic II, zero degree, 120mm length. The bars are Soma Highway Ones @ 42 C to C, 130 drop & 75 reach. Below is a graphic of the difference between a zero degree stem and a common (for the day) -17 degree stem.

Thanks! So Nitto zero degree = 90 degrees ;)

I'm not sure what the source is, I found it randomly online several years ago, but I dont know the context in which it was taken.

just for fun... a couple of photos from the 1982 edition of the Iron Horse Classic race in Durango, Colorado. A buddy and some of his friends were racing as Cat 3's, and I was just along for the fun of it.

There were a lot of the nation's top racers there, including some from the 7-11 team. When I look closely at the photos, it appears that they are riding Rossin bikes.

side note: since this was 1982, the photography was done with a very vintage Canon 35mm SLR with Kodak film. Don't recall whether it was slides or negatives. Hate to say it, but my modern DSLR does a better job. My nostalgia for old tech doesn't extend to photography. :)

Can confirm:

1982 - 1983: According to Davis Phinney (in the 2008 March-April edition of Road Bike Action), the team rode Rossin frames.
Greg Demgen also e-mailed me about the same thing.

Also, a blog reader sent me some photos of a bike he bought which was reportedly Ron Kiefel's 7-Eleven Rossin.

cool stuff! Always fun to learn about stuff a few decades later! (I was so naive back then...)

here are some of the 7-11 details of my photos from the '82 Iron Horse. These are just from my stash of photos, instead of what I've got up on flickr.
