All too often patients come in and swear they are on a low carb diet, then proceed to tell me they are having whole wheat bread and brown rice. The proof is in the pudding, and these folks have too much pudding.

I guess that's one big difference between the two versions of the game. In fastpitch, for the girls blessed with speed, bunting can be a serious offensive weapon. My daughter, however, is not one of those girls. Thankfully, she's good at hitting the ball a long ways, and enjoys an easy-paced 240' trot.

That problem is due to "authorities" and early adopters who were looking for an easy way out. It's hard to go from carefree to genuine low carb, so they listened to the food industry tell them whole wheat and brown rice and other stuff were good enough. They are not. They are carbs that turn into sugar just a smidgen slower than white bread and rice, but not slow enough to make a difference.

Drinking alcohol while riding is no bueno. Outside of that, I rarely drink liquid carbs unless I’m riding. Most I’ll do is an occasional bottle of juice.

I had Guinness beef stew and a Guinness for lunch.

It's got a higher fat content than most regular butters. Richer flavour.

A few of reasons why I won't. Although she has had serious interest from a few D1 college coaches, she doesn't want to live the regimented, high-demand lifestyle of a D1 athlete. Some young athletes thrive in that environment, and others tolerate it when there's a giant potential payoff on the other side (pro). My kid is not one of those, and college will be the end of her softball career. Our goal is to find the right college fit for her, not just the highest level of softball. Also, she wants to stay on the west coast or mountain region. Next month, we will be visiting some schools in OR and No. CA that fit with what she's looking for, and have expressed a high level of interest in recruiting her for softball.
