Yeah, might be a little tall for me anyways. Says it's a 56, but the near vertical seattube makes the standover more like a 58?

Saturday I did 100 miles, I had an incident where I called the police. The usual nonsense. 20 minutes. Wasted. Was my only stop. 5 hours 33 min. No food. 2 bottles consumed. I used my hand held roller on my legs fairly vigorously when I got done showering. The next morning I wouldn't have known I rode my bike the day before. In fact my legs felt fantastic! So good I did my usual Northville ride and set 3 pr's.
Nice of my legs to come around finally.

Major drama in my bike club. I am almost glad I am doing mostly "private" rides.

Apparently there was a bad accident involving a couple of cars on the Wednesday night ride. One rider was hit and/or ran into a car that passed the group and slowed down suddenly. The ride leader for this ride was very upset about this and overall safety concerns....which is a precursor to Saturday's event....apparently a ride on Saturday had a rider with a mechanical so a group of 3 riders were on the side of the road working on this, and another ride led by the leader from Wednesday night incident came by, and he vociferously either yelled angrily at them/harassed them, and even turned around a little later and physically assaulted one of them and cursed them out (story "A") or was passionately warning them to find a safer location, lest the events of Wednesday night be repeated (story "B"). It does not help that this back-forth drama was played out on the club's ride leader website. It got quite nasty until the club president took all the postings down. I suspect it's still seething.

Cruising the CL for MTB wheelsets, but keep finding road-ish bikes I want. This one looks kinda big, but if it's really 650b like the ad says, it might fit.

Liked for the nod to strategy, not failure. :) By the time I was close there was only one option left.

So I was never able to calibrate my stages power meter. Always showed up an error code when I would try. Didn’t seem like a big deal because the power was very similar to the madone.

Today I was doing another zone 2 ride, but was not looking at my power. Goal was to keep the HR under 140, trying to keep about a 125 average. At mile 20 I happened to look at my power numbers and it was showing an average power of 190. That seemed really high for the speed I was cruising at, so I started watching it. I know from past experience that 170 watts will give me about 140 hr, well today at 264 watts I was only showing 130 hr, and on top of that my speed was 16 mph on flat ground.

Took me a few tries but was finally able to recalibrate at mile 30. The rest of the ride appeared normal.

Does anybody use the calibrate prompt under the power meter settings on the garmin?

Saturday's 101 miler was most excellent, but we did get angrily buzzed by a pickup/service truck. We got the company name and I penned this letter, which I think was very diplomatic given the French Shower move by the driver....I am not sure we will get a response but at least I feel like I did something to address this. See cut/paste below:

Hello,

I am writing on behalf of myself and seven other bicycle riders who had a very close call with one of your trucks. The incident took place on Cathill Road heading South towards County Line Road at approximately 11:45AM on Saturday August 13th. My group and I were riding as close to the right side of the lane as possible. We were passed by, and nearly hit by, one of your service trucks. The passing vehicle came within about 1 foot (or less) of striking us, and was very distressing to my group.

I understand that the driver was likely in a hurry and frustrated to have to wait to pass my group, but it's important that we share the road, and also there is a four-foot passing law in Pennsylvania which requires any passing vehicle to give 4 feet of clearance to a cyclist.

I am not asking your company to punish the driver who did this, but please remind him/her, and all your drivers, to please be patient with cyclists and pass us in a safe manner. We all need to get along and share the road.

Cycling is a way of LIFE brah. Either dig it or quit it.
(Sarcasm)

I have been blessed so far that I have not witness this anywhere.

My coach yells at me to close a gap that I don’t see, but that’s about it.

I believe part of the blame for the Wednesday crash is riders' need for speed and pushing the pace. It was partly the drivers' fault too, but we all know many "accidents" are avoidable.

This makes me even happier to avoid open club rides where wannabe racer-boys take extra chances. No thanks.
