She had it clutched under her arm pit. my wife never knows where her cell phone is. I bought her an apple watch, thinking this would solve the problem. Didn’t help one bit. |

Uh oh. With my new haircut, I am afraid I am starting to resemble Mr Pitt.

I heard back from Rapha on their repair service evaluation... they say that they can't repair either item. They did pass along $100+ worth of vouchers to put towards new stuff, but this is still disappointing.
I responded to the email, asking for clarification on why they couldn't be repaired. I mean, if these can't be repaired, what can be?! I only got a canned response to that query, which was also disappointing. Honestly, a part of me wonders if it's because they were both bought on closeout. In any event, I called around to repair/alteration places around town. After a few calls, I found one that would work with Spandex. I dropped off both pieces, along with some old bibs to use as sacrificial patch material, and was charged a whopping $35. I told them that didn't want or expect them to look like new, but I guess we'll see what's what when I pick them up in a week. Frankly, I'm thinking that something along the lines of the Japanese wabi-sabi or kintsukuroi would be cool. *shrug* |

Losing tools is part of the job but it sucks if you lose $60 or $70 worth of tools on a job you made $12 or $15 on. Electronic throttle controls meant spending more time under the dash and when a $50 socket rolls under the seat you don't see it when the job is done. It's cool the next day if you look for something and remember where you last used it and that car is still there. |

Poco a poco. Trainsnorter will understand. What a treat it is to be back to some semblance of normal on a bike. That time's a comin' for DougRNS |

I like everything about that bike, except it doesn't have downtube shiftters.
Hot! Ready to get it out on the road. |

I am still waiting for my 8mm wrench to show up. I was working on a bike. It's an odd thing that they get away so easily, and it's always expected that someday they'll turn up. But they never do. Poof!
I've also found tools while riding bikes. |
Found many tools while riding bikes, but not a single one here in Mexico. The roadsides are scoured for cans and bottles, and anything else of value, for the meager income it supplies.

I never posted this before because I avoid A&S stories like the plague. But, I was hit a few weeks ago while riding on a local 55 mph county highway with a 6' paved shoulder. According to a witness, I was so far tho the right of the paved shoulder that I was barely on the pavement. The mirror of a pickup hit my left shoulder blade and catapulted me into the ditch. The driver didn't stop and the witness couldn't get the plate number.
Anyway, bike is fine and I'm ok except that I have a slight pain in my left shoulder where I was hit when I get tired like over 40 miles. Be safe out there. |
