I was thinking how in winter we have five straight days of clouds (how does water even evaporate when it's 40F?).

But when Velo Vol is mowing in July, the sun goes into cook mode and we don't have a cloud to cover it for hours.

I hold them in the flame of an NG stove for 20 seconds or so. I think they have glowed and flamed a bit, but a propane torch is a lot hotter! I will certainly buy you a set if I'm responsible for destroying them, but I bet they're okay.

I have a Park boot that came with the new bike I bought in '96. Do you think it would still be good? The hole is miniscule at the moment. Right at the fringe of the tread. A boot would be better than a cold patch mounted inside? Maybe both. It was nice that I didn't even have to remove the tube in order to patch it.

I am on track for a 200 mile week. You can surely top that if you are a serious cyclist.

I accepted my fredliness years ago so I wore one to the group ride Saturday. I was the only one and I don't really know them, but it was hot and I didn't know if or when there would be water stops and I need a lot of water. One of the guys was chiding me on a climb about having seen me climb better before. I told him the Camelbak was slowing me down.

When I ride with my regular club I never use it because I know there are water stops. With a lot of solo riding this year and water sources turned off and wanting to avoid stores, especially when alone, I started using it on hot rides. With 2 big bottles and a 2 liter Camelbak I can carry about a gallon. I tried an extra bottle in the jersey and 2 bottles in a handlebar bag but the Camelbak seems to work best for me.
