The "sour grape" 950. Actually more purple than it looks, thanks to auto white balance:

2002 Mercian Vincitore custom road fixed-gear, frame built by Derek Land, with Miche Primato cranks and BB, Nitto lugged stem and mod. 176 Dream bars, Stronglight A9 headset, Dia-Compe levers with RX100 level dual pivots with Scott-Matthausers, SunTour XC9000 (?) front hub, Surly "New" Track hub rear, MA2 rims, 28mm Paselas, Brooks B17 Champion Special with Nitto Jaguar post, c.1998 Carradice Nelson saddlebag, and many many miles on it. I love this bike, and it is time to put some new bearings in the hubs! |

1992 Performance Parabola. When I bought the bike from a garage sale, it was heavily overcast and the building was not very well lit, so I thought it was gray. It wasn't until a day later when I saw it under bright sun that I realized it was actually lavender. I'm not sure what they were going for with the design, since it has features of both a touring bike and a hybrid. The frame is built like a mountain bike, but with narrow wheels and side pull brakes. There is plenty of clearance, so I could put on some fat tires and ride on gravel.

Looks like I have to go shopping this month.

1971 Raleigh Competition - passed on to me by GordoTrek. Saddle is an rhm dressed up with leather paint.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6c3ae62ade.jpg lilac - lavender - purple... same difference. Will try to get a shot of my wife's cosmetically challenged, maroon 1981 Miyata 1000. |
Looks blue but, nope, it is just an ugly purple...

@noglider - since this is a C & V forum how old is “old enough”? Would a 1997 Candy Purple recumbent be too new? It’s a “classic” in regard to being a well known, long standing brand/model. Thanks! |

No longer mine. Maybe the new owner of the frame will share his version.

The 1990 ish Bianchi Ibex I am using for the Clunker Challenge, I named him Barney. He may end up being a keeper and get the full spa treatment but for now he's a clunker

I can't capture this color with my camera. It's a gorgeous bike. It's a 1982 McLean, a collector's item. It was originally metallic blue. I had it painted by Peter Weigle's ex-wife Betsy.

^^^^ Yeah, seems like the auto white balance / color correction on a lot of point-and-shoot cameras just can't come to grips with the notion of a subject with a fair amount of purple in it. They always want to "blue shift" the colors.

My 1958 Sun Cresta built in Birmingham England. The company was acquired by Raleigh later that same year. This one came to Canada with its original owner in the seventies. Sun (FC Parkes) advertised the colour combination as Flamboyant Purple/ Pale blue. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...09e42ed04a.jpg

Wow, it's gorgeous and a mess all at once. Leaning heavily towards the gorgeous part for sure! :thumb::thumb::thumb: |
