First "amateur" to go over 50k (50.245) Probably one of the best hour's we've seen. Super smooth even pacing, riding the black line from start to finish. https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...9d&oe=5C1A0186 |

Does anyone have any experience/insights into the Holdsworth Roi De Velo track frame that is available on the Planet X website? I might be in the market for a new frame, but have heard nothing about this bike. (I'm also wary of purchasing things sight unseen from the internet.)
Looks alot better in the flesh and has a much higher quality finish to it than my Planet X Pro Carbon frameset. Its a lot chunkier and would make me imagine alot stiffer. The seat post is supposedly alot better as well, as the early Pro Carbons would slip and needed an upgraded seat collar. ( Holdsworth has a concealed internal clamp ). Rider who owned it was very happy with it. |

Curious, was the rider a sprinter or an enduro?
however I was definitely looking at it from a sprinters perspective and could see how it looked improved compared to my standard Planet X. The proof would be in the riding of course - usual inspection doesn’t really tell you the truth but it looked like it had been beefed up a lot. That said, I don’t find my Planet X at all “Noodley” as many people claim and I’m a big guy. This could change when I set some heavier gearing mind. |
Latest Velonews podcast with Colby all about the hour record: https://www.velonews.com/2018/10/pod...-pearce_479619

An interesting listen. Few people have geeked out over an hour as much as Colby.

Mikkel Bjerg has just done 53.730, he’s only 19! |
Damn! I'm pretty sure that he has another 800m in him sometime soon.

Team KGF re-brand and refocus, https://www.velouk.net/2018/10/09/ne...huub-wattbike/
Should be a good season, luckily we'll be going to watch them in Berlin and London. Never been to Berlin before, the velodrome is an interesting design. |

The geometry charts on the website is really cool. I love that there are so many sizes available. The fact that these are available "off the rack" is astounding. I think I just found my next bike.
|
Not saying there's a better alternative but I find it rather uninspiring.
The range of sizes is cool but the design, tube choice, handling geometry and fork.... yawn |
And yet, despite all the geometries available, there is nothing close to the stack/reach of my current frame.
|
I too am wishing they had some longer reaches for a given stack. These sizes seem a bit slanted towards a more upright enduro set up?
|
I'd be guessing that custom is a minor adjustment for them, with just a series of "standard" sizes as listed on the site. I don't see a size 26 :( Duratec works like this. They have a standard geometry set (that is much smaller since I last looked) but a full custom order is but a phone call/email away

It appears that the Olympic Channel will broadcast this weekends (10/19 to 10/21) World Cup event from France (probably no more than an hour or so each day)
https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/events/full-calendar Anyone know of any other streaming of this event? |
I remember there was a lot of research and testing for the geometry for those frames. I'm surprised after all that, 74 parallel with a 34mm offset fork still came out ahead.
|
I'm guessing they worked backwards from the fork... instead of y'know designing a better fork.
I'd really like to do something similar and better but damn if I don't see any money to be made :( |

In world news:
https://www.r e d d i t.com/r/news/comments/9q279k/not_fair_world_cycling_bronze_medalist_cries_foul/ Apparently, the word r e d d i t is censored here because spammers used to post links to there. Copy the text above and reassemble the URL. |
This is international news. Many major cycling news outlets are covering this. https://www.velonews.com/2018/10/new...athlete_480206 We have discussed other sensitive topics here, Perkins defecting from AUS to Russia, doping, rules violations, IOC bans, WADA bans, etc... Why should this topic be any different? |
If I were accused of doping, cheating, race-fixing, whatever... and it were in Cycling News, Washington Post, NY Times, as much as I would hate to see the conversations here, it is only fair that they be allowed. I cannot ask that they be censord because it paints me in a bad light. Period. |

The only place I've seen this discussed reasonably has been slowtwitch. Everywhere else has deleted threads, comments or locked them early and not allowed any discussion to occur. I checked here but after the other thread had been censored, but I checked in specifically to see what the posters here had to say as this sub forum is usually good for interesting and well reasoned discussion.
And the reason why the discussion keeps getting shut down is because it turns to trans bashing. There was a discussion on this exact topic in the 33 a couple years ago. It wasn't moderated, edited or deleted. Perhaps you can look that up. |

It wasn't moderated, edited or deleted. Perhaps you can look that up. Recall that other trans athletes actually disagree with her, too. She considered them "wrong" as well. The only viewpoint that she tolerates are the ones with which she agrees. This isn't about being trans. It's about competitive advantages and sportsmanship. |
As I was taught as a young man, it's not always about what you do, it's also about how you do it.
For example, Terrell Owens still doesn't understand why some people don't like him. |
