you can see the moment where the dog begins chase, then the 2nd where I mistakenly let it get way too close. not 30mph either time! The german shepherd on Mountain Home would have eaten my lunch.

aaronmcd 12-23-15 10:32 AM

Can't tell how long that spike is, but it's crazy you didn't hit 30! Pretty sure you merckx TT at 27.7

mike868y 12-23-15 01:41 PM

off work until the new year so the goal is to get some decent volume in as this will likely be my last chance to do so before work gets crazy and stays that way until april.

3:45 today. i also forget how tough the riding around my mom's place in northeastern CT is. it's like getting continuously kicked in the teeth by steep hills.

TheKillerPenguin 12-23-15 03:29 PM

4hrs steady. April rain at the end of December!

hack 12-24-15 02:25 AM

An hour or so on the trainer. Checked out Zwift tonight. It was surprisingly fun and made the time go by much quicker than normal. Nabbed the leaderboard for the sprint before logging off. Was hard to see the start since I was using the little laptop. Will shoot the feed over to the TV next go around. I poo poo'ed it at first, but I can see this helping winter training be less awful.

TheKillerPenguin 12-24-15 08:27 AM

5hrs, on a motha ****** brand spankin new hell machine. And it's 70 out! 70! Merry xmas y'all!

globecanvas 12-24-15 11:25 AM

2x20 @ 93%. In shorts. We're past the point where people are even commenting on the weather, instead we just look at each other and shake our heads in confusion.

johnybutts 12-24-15 12:44 PM

1 hrs JRA on Zwift.

mike868y 12-24-15 01:55 PM

3:50 today. i'm tired. off tomorrow. idk how i managed to do 5+ hour rides so regularly over the summer.

i think the rear shift cable on this bike is on the way out. which is super annoying because i thought about packing when I came home for the holidays but decided not too. just hope this one holds together through my ride saturday before i can get to a shop.

TheKillerPenguin 12-24-15 03:24 PM

Holy **** new bike is awesome...

rideaz 12-24-15 05:04 PM

Did the 12 climbs of christmas ride. Fun ride that takes 4 hours to go 40 miles/4300feet because we regroup at every climb. Patience required but a really fun group and an opportunity to watch Ygduf ride away on all the climbs!

I did the same ride, but only like 10.5 of the 12 climbs because my tolerance for novelty roads runs out at closed gates or 30% driveways. Was nice to be outside and we got very lucky with upper 50s and dry. Good to see @rideaz and @bmcphx

aaronmcd 12-24-15 09:50 PM

Anyone riding in AZ tomorrow? My fam is doing brunch, probably late like noon but perhaps I can get out for a bit.

bostongarden 12-24-15 09:53 PM

Had to go for a somewhat longish outdoor ride, 3hr 45m, today given that it was near 70 degrees in the Boston area. Rode out to Harvard with 2569' of climbing. I'd been on the trainer quite a bit for the past two weeks, but, been doing some good stuff on it. I was surprised to find that today's ride was not taxing at all. I've been working hard on getting more flexibility. I now ride almost exclusively in the drops, which is a more powerful position for me. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 60 degrees. Let's enjoy it while we can. And when the snow comes, natural or not, I'll be Nordic XC skate skiing :-)

caloso 12-24-15 11:31 PM

Hotel "gym." Burpees, lunges, and bench jumps.

I'm going in about 5 minutes. Sorry I didn't see it sooner or I'd take you over and we could get chased by wild dogs.

caloso 12-25-15 09:19 AM

60' on the hotel "bike." Some weights and plyo stuff. Family is still asleep.

There is a particularly ridiculous one on the west side of Black Mountain in Cave Creek/North Scottsdale. I think this is the one if I'm remembering right https://www.strava.com/segments/617928

You should go climb it, the people that live near the top WILL laugh at you and it's hilarious. Trust me on this.

johnybutts 12-25-15 12:21 PM

1 hr on zwift

9 CTL; 20 ATL; -5 TSB.

TMonk 12-25-15 05:38 PM

You're CTL has a nonzero value now!

Movin' on up!

bostongarden 12-25-15 06:06 PM

Another lovely day, another lovely ride...49 miles of relaxation, less the last few miles when I did put down some power.

Rode the coast today from La Costa park n ride to the top of Torrey Pines and then did a second TP climb. The wind on the ride back was amazing. Fun ride and great to be back in SD as always.

TMonk 12-25-15 11:36 PM

Nice, glad that you enjoyed it. That's my home turf for most long solo rides.

longe 12-26-15 08:15 AM

gently procrastinating 3hrs 10min low Z4x6 now, 3hr 30min Z3x3 tomorrow. then next week of i'm off from work work, replacing it with...work.. :D

TheKillerPenguin 12-26-15 08:27 AM

Herrrd that. Just one more cup of coffee, I swear!

TheKillerPenguin 12-26-15 09:49 AM

Any of you with high volume experience have advice for avoiding post easy spin day grogginess?

not sure if its the same, but having mondays off sometimes makes me a little sluggish on tuesdays. what helps is the shortest, highest intensity work being on tuesdays, like sprints or max cadence- the first couple are like cold water to the face for the legs to wake them up and the rest of the workout is fine. if i try to do something that is a longer effort, like in z3 or something, its miserable and they don't wake up as well or at all.

TheKillerPenguin 12-26-15 03:30 PM

Thanks, and that's actually exactly what happened today since I had shorter high intensity work at the start of the ride.
