my youngest kid had a tiny / mini bmx racer - I think it weighed around 14 lbs

That's pretty light for the era. I had a Landshark made of Prestige tubing. Whippiest wet noodle I ever rode. Comfortable nice ride but I had to get off of it before it broke.

It’s too hot a humid to ride any distance. Did about 3 miles to the market and another 3 home. Was dripping sweat when I got back to mi casa.

That's one thing I do not look forward to, if we end up moving Back East for retirement. I have always been a profuse perspirer in with heat and exercise. Even a 1 mile walk on a day in the 70s can leave my hair dripping with sweat. Out here it doesn't matter much because it generally evaporates and cools me, but in humidity it just runs off me. Last year when I was back in PA visiting family, with no bike I'd go for 1-2 mile brisk walks every day instead. I'd geat

The father of the family who just moved in next door was getting something out of his car after parking. Someone sped down the street, hit the car door, nearly hit him, and sped off. The door is bent backwards. Fortunately, he got the plate number and video from his window cam. Happened right in front of my house just after I drove off to get the cat’s nails clipped. He was waiting for the police when I got back. I told him it could be hours, especially this weekend.

I have been looking for the opportunity to mention the difference this past week's two rides have made. Both were in temps I wouldn't consider riding in, and both were necessary, given the circumstances. No more will I balk at going out because it's too hot.

many bikes in our loose group back in the 90's were around 20lbs - some under including steel frame bikes

but this often required some creativity ... Ti bottom bracket, Ti cogs, good lightweight wheelset etc

been a while since I looked closely at my 5200 OCLV - but I recall World Class Ti bottom bracket, one wheelset with Nuke Proof hubs, 15/16 butted spokes and alloy nipples, DA cassette w/Ti large cogs, latex tubes, CT bolt on Ti skewers, Syncros stem, Scott LF handlebar, Dean Ti seatpost, Flite saddle etc ... might have Ti pedal spindles also - can't recall

this bike very light for the time - but can't recall what it weighed ; If I rode that bike now it might crumble under me lol

my 'heavy' bike - lugged steel Schwinn Peloton with Ultegra dual control ('brifters' lol) is just over 21 lbs - with basically no trickery ... does have 12-28 XTR cassette w/Ti large cogs (weighs less than standard 12-23 cassette) ... and might have SRP Ti stem expander bolt and crank bolts lol

:rolleyes: Not funny. I’ve nearly been hit like that over the years. It’s scary. And we have a lot of children and people with strollers who walk around. It’s why I try to unload from the back or sidewalk side, but that’s not always possible. There is a stop sign and four-way intersection a few hundred feet up. Why drive so fast? Too much selfishness these days. A few days ago someone got out of their car and murdered another driver because he thought they were driving too slow. The suspect wasn’t even the one driving. His mother was. What sort of person tells their mom to pass someone on the shoulder and then pull over so he can get out and shoot them? At least he’s been arrested and has confessed.

At lest my neighbor was able to force the door back in so it’s not sticking out in the street to get hit again. And that probably saves him a tow to a body shop. But as a one-car family, they are in a bit of a bind.

74 miler this morning. It was cool @ the start I was worried about being cold.....:banned: that was dumb. But had a fantastic ride. Had another 37 mph sprint @ the end. Even the 2 climbs I couldn't hang with the group 2 weeks ago were drastically improved.

The great thing about C&V bikes it that you get at least TWO New Bike Days - the day you buy it and the day the build is done - which usually means the day after the night the build is done. The Litespeed has given me FOUR New Bike Days - Arrival; Sachs/Campy Frankenbuild; DA 7410 build; and R8000 Ultegra build!

Looks like it’s gone.

Today was out monthly C&V ride. I took the Schwinn Circuit, and man is it fun! I musta done something right with the hubs, because it gains speed really quickly when coasting downhill. This time there was another rider who stayed up with me most everywhere. I think we were half-wheeling each other, because twice we had to stop for several minutes for the rest of the group to catch up.

The Circuit is really too small for me, but with the long seatpost and 130mm stem it's actually pretty comfy, for all that the bars are an inch lower than any of my other bikes. It's so much fun that I simultaneously want the same bike in 23" (vs22") and DON'T want the larger size because THIS one is so much fun.
