Greetings from the Netherlands

Hi you all.
I've been on this forum for some months now. I think this is my 10th post so maybe I'm reliable now. Because my old barn was too small for the bicycles we're building another, bigger now. I own several bikes, from a 10 year old carbon Bianchi, a lot of vintage Alan racers (or frames), some vintage cx (Empella Turbo) and also a modern Focus cx. A steel Cascarsi racer and a randonneur, a Scirocco-racer, SR Litage-racer, Berkers, Gazelle, stuff like that. I'm mostly interested in Classic Vintage. I like to ride them too.
Hope we have a nice time together on this forum.
Greetings from the southern part of the Netherlands (almost Belgium :thumb:)
Fabio

Hi fabiofarelli en welkom! I’m in the UK but I work for Philips so I have been to Eindhoven many times. Lovely part of the world. I’m hoping to take part in Eroica Limburg this year (COVID permitting). Nigel

Thnx Nigel. Mind Eroica Limburg changed the date, now the first weekend of september! Here's a pic of my son and I at the start in Valkenburg 2019.

Welkom! I took a long tour up to Baarle-Hertog a few weeks ago, my excuse was to get frites from the last Friteur in Belgium, but really just to go visit the enclave (exclave depending on view). Also, I rode a loop of the southern section of Zeeland in December...it was windy, but beautiful. I'm looking forward to more rides in the Netherlands once we get past this COVID mess.

There's quite the biking culture in the netherlands, right?

Sure. But I think it's better to say there are a lot of biking cultures in the Netherlands. From youth ridin' a almost ruined bicycle to the station or café, elder couples on e-bikes, young parents with children in the 'bakfiets', people goin' to school, work and shops ... and more. And there are groups (at this moment not hat many) and individuels on racing bikes, mtb's, old or new. Bicycle roads are getting too small and cardrivers are getting irritated. But it's okay to live in the Netherlands as cyclist.

Never seen that big of a crowd around bike seats.

I like the bikes hanging from the ceiling. Do buyers have to bring their own stepladders?

Hello again fabiofarelli , looks like I won’t be coming to the Netherlands this year after all, sadly. Would you believe Eroica Limburg is scheduled for the very same weekend as a vintage event in the UK called Velo Retro, which is also postponed from 2020. Given the still present uncertainty due to COVID, I have decided to stay in the UK and have transferred my Limburg registration to next year. Ah well! Btw Velo Retro is a great event and I would recommend it. It is held in a beautiful part of northern England called the Lake District with some outstanding scenery and challenging climbs!

Ulverston, I know. I mention it in the agenda on my blog. Is it here in the C&V agenda for this year?

I don’t know if it is mentioned in the BF C&V agenda (mostly American stuff here) but I believe entries are now closed for this year. You have a blog? I’ll like to look it up, what’s it called?

I meant this one, specially for Europe. But I checked, VeloRetro is in it. And you'll find my blog here: https://fabiofarelli.blogspot.com/. Nice you ask.

That’s one cool, stylish and interesting blog, Fabio. Thank goodness for google translate though - my Dutch isn’t up to reading the original! You just got one more follower.

Thanks Pavone, and sometimes (seldom) I use dialect ... I guess Google Translate has some problems with that.
