Who else thinks the BoneShaker was peak bicycle ?
Does anyone else feel like bikes have too much gratuitous gadgetry innovation ?
I mean disc brakes are overkill for casual riders. 100 years we didn't need them. The boneshaker also had a brake – a metal lever that pressed a wooden pad against the rear wheel. I bet this would be fine for most casual riders ! I declare all technology that came afterwards to be worthless. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...03231120c2.jpg |
Ummm...yeah...that's a "no" from me. I'm a fan of development and progress.

Well, you're the expert.
|
Hey, if it doesn’t shake your bones, it must be inferior.
|
Hyperbole? Sarcasm? Irony?
Don't know. |
It is tubeless.
|
And a fixie.
|
Low spoke count.
|
How do you adjust the toe-in?
...and A threadless stem. |
For once, rim doesn't look bent.
|
The question tho..
...is can I fit 28s on those rims?.
Anybody know if there''ll be enough clearance at the rear stays?? |

It would make for a nice 650b conversion.

Neither laterally stiff nor adequately vertically compliant.
Probably not upgraded over last year's model. Colourways? Basic brown does Not do it for me! What model Brooks saddle is that? |
Fork is... not bent?
|
No from me - I like my bones unshaken :)

We also should have stopped at the model-T. It ran (slowly) it stopped (sorta) lacked all the gadgets and gizmos, was light and would get you where you had to go (eventually), was light weight and fairly fuel efficient.
Don't do drugs mmmkay. |
Bone shakers have their place. It's in the museum, or on the street, 300 years ago.
That's not to say I don't want to make one out of wood and glue, the next time the $100 klunker challenge role around. |
It's neither long, low, nor slack
|
So, apparently the sloping top tube has been around for a while.

Nopers. I’m scared of heights and that’s a long time watching the ground rush up to meet your face.
I’m a big fan of safety bikes like this 1898 Glenwood that in it’s day was upgraded with a pat 1909 coaster brake. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7c0f64002.jpeg |
I'm not a fan of radially-spoked wheels.
|
I believe the big question is whether the bike can ****post on its own, or needs someone to help it do so.

Charles H. Duell would agree.
