What tires do we run? Just curious
I run Pirelli P-Zero 4S's in 28's with butyl tubes on my main bike a Wabi Special. I used to run Challenge Strada Bianca's in 30's with Latex tubes but switched to P-Zero's when they first came out. I loved the ride with the Strada Bianca's but the allure of Pirelli's and the sticky rubber was too enticing to pass up. They grip like glue, handle the road really well and corner great. I bought a new set since the originals wore out and just mounted them today.
I do really miss the Strada Bianca ride though and ride quality is most important to me. With latex they ride like old sew-ups and have that same hiss hiss sound on the pavement when accelerating. I have two new tires on the shelf and may switch to them when summer hits. I run Challenge Paris Roubaix's with Latex tubes on my Wabi Classic. It doesn't get much action these days for some reason though. What tires do y'all ride with and why? |
38c Panaracer Paselas on my big tire beater bike
25c schwalbe Durano's on my Cramerotti Track 23c gatorskins on the NJS Vivalo 38c Gravelkings on the gravel bike I'd rather have a more puncture proof tire and deal with more rolling resistance than fast tires. |
RockHopper has 26x2.2 Race King Protection front and 26x2.2 Speed King rear. I have a spare rear wheel with another Race King for the really messy times, like when all this snow melts.
Schwinn Sprint has Ritchey SpeedMax front and Conti Ultra Sport II rear. Both 700x32. Otto |
Langster is running 700x28 Clement LCVs (now Donelly Sports)
Single Speed/Fixed Gear RandoCross FunTime Machine is running 700x36 Challenge Gravel Grinder Open Tubulars (so more like a clincher) Chilkoot is running 700x28 Vittoria Rubino Pro G+ Phil Wood Apple VeloXS is running 700x25 Vittoria Corsa G+ tires (tan wall of course) Cascadia is running 700x38 Challenge Gravel Grinders (vulcanized) Privateer is running 700x37 Continental Travel Contacts Timberjack is running 650bx2.4 Michelin tires (Wild Runner AM I think?) Supercharger2 is running 650bx2.4 Schwalbe Super Moto Xs Habanero is running 26X2.3 (I think) Maxxis DTH (though will get some MTB tires in the near future) Proteus is running a mix of tires and I know it is a 700x30 at the front as it is a Challenge Strada Bianca (also open tubular) and the rear I believe is a 700x25 Continental tire but I cannot remember and I really need to ride that bike or just sell it. I believe that covers everything at least everything at the house I have a bike at work but it is not rideable in current state but would have some form of 650b Specialized tire probably a 2.3 if memory serves but that is not going to technically be a part of my fleet as it is going to family once finished. In terms of favorite tires probably Vittoria wins out for the lovely Graphene in their tires, I had been running 700x28 Vittoria Corsa G+s on my road bike but got a little cut and was worried so I replaced both tires and since it was getting near winter time I just said this is probably better and then never bothered to switch back honestly yeah the ride suffered a tiny bit but the Rubinos still have the grip I want and honestly they work better since they aren't tan walls they don't look bad when dirty. |
Gravel King 28s at the moment. Got em because they were on sale and I like that they handle mixed surfaces fairly well while still being a good road tire. Gonna be due for some new rubber soon though...

MTB - Vittoria Mezcal. Pure XC tire, but less durable than I'd like, even for that application. Do not recommend
TT bike - Vittoria Corsa Speed clincher, latex tubes Road bike 1 - Specialized turbo cotton, latex tubes Road bike 2 (main steed) - Right now GP5000, but usually whatever is on sale, and butyl tubes Track bike - Vittoria Open Corsa tubular. The old corsas. Fixie Bike (Wabi) - Right now some Vittoria Rubino I think? but usually whatever is on sale |
Off road - I've always liked Maxxis products. The Ardent and Ardent Race (MTB) tires are great. I've been curious to try WTB
Pavement - I really like Vittoria products, great tires at all pricing tiers. The Rubino (and all it's variants) are great tires, I've worn through many. |

My ss Cross Check is running WTB Nano 40's, with tubes. Great on singletrack and fine for my purposes on pavement with the center ridge they have.

gIt those Grand Prix 4 Seasons for my current build but I haven't ridden it yet so I can't tell ya much about them
|
Schwalbe marathon's at 32c for loads of skids and comfort. They don't run nearly as smoothly as Continental Grand Prix 4000. The latter is the best pair of tyres I've ever had on a road bike.
|
Surly Steamroller is ridden as a single-speed and has old 700x32 Gotham II puncture-resistant tires from Performance Bike. When their local brick & mortar closed I bought 10 of them for cheap!
Tour bike has Vittoria Randonuer tires (700 x 36). Puncture resistant Cruiser bike (a converted 1990s rigid MTB) has Serfas Drifter 26x2 tires, also puncture resistant. Road riding bike is a home built 'frankenbike' that rolls of whatever 700x32 puncture resistant tires are available at the LBS when I need tires. |
Anyone remember the hypersonic duro tires?
I snagged a bunch for cheap when Iro closed up shop. I think I still have a pair left. |
Swift Sand Canyon for my Raleigh GranSports. 27 x 1 3/8.
