Sort of like the old saying that if you loan somebody $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

What if you loan someone everything you have?

Not with Raynaud’s. And I’d never approach my recent mileage.

When I lived where it snowed I learned that I love snowshoeing and hiking in snow, I enjoy cross country skiing, and I really love mountain biking when the right amount of snow is on the ground.
Taking a backpack with a picnic lunch and a camera into the snowy woods when the sun is out is awesome.

Mileage is over-rated. Gore-tex is good stuff.

Hmmmm. Is it worth everything you have to get rid of someone who'd take everything you have? That's deep.

There's a thing lost in the blather about "no such thing as too cold, just underdressed" - some of us like the feeling of warm air and sun on our skin, and find most clothing quite uncomfortable. It's one of the things that goes hand in hand with certain mental issues.

I love the summer, and never whine about the heat. Winter is a necessary time used to ***** about the cold, and appreciate the warm times when they're here.

Living here, where it almost never goes below freezing, and goes above 95 infrequently, only for a few days, and cools off to about 60 overnight has completely ruined me for anything else.

What about rational property values? :innocent:

The key is already owning property. ;)

Funny thing is, I've lived here nearly 40 years, and the WHOLE TIME property values have been insane. Most of that time, people say, "It can't keep going up!", but it does. Other people say, "Housing prices are driving people away!", but never enough for prices to fall. And I keep hearing - from people who don't live in California - that everybody is leaving California.

"Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

You're not one of those nekkid riders are you?

Just curious in light of your offer to ride the Veloway with me.

I do NOT do well in the heat, and direct sun is definitely a problem. For the first time the softball season is extending into October this year whereas it usually ends about now. I'm loving it.

If you guys think I'm a basket case now, I'm much better riding outside. Fortunately running should do well enough also.

Ha, no. Sports clothing feels good. Breathable clothing in general feels good. Layering and insulation leave me feeling suffocated.

It's an enigma trapped in a conundrum.

Yeah. I believe in having the right kind of clothing, but sometimes the right kind of clothing can still feel restricting. The first ride of the year with regular bibs and a short sleeve jersey is always a treat.

I wouldn't say that. I draw the line somewhere just like everyone else. I've had some wonderful rides when it's 30 but I've had miserable times in wind and sleet. And when my feet get cold I'm not having fun anymore.

I understand that we are all different and our tolerance for extremes of weather will vary.

BillyD 09-01-21 03:54 PM

Looking at the weather radar it's about to do some SERIOUS raining for the next 5 hours or so.
