Chances are somewhat decent that it's long enough already. Put it in the big/big, then push the bottom of the derailleur cage forward to see if the lower pivot of the rear derailer still had a little room to rotate forward. The more room it has before the stop, the better the chances everything will be just fine with existing chain. |

I guess the next question is: why? I can't see you spinning out on the hybrid and, if we really get down to it, the more upright position and (I assume) larger tires are going to be more conducive to shorter gearing, anyway.
It's just a cheap project idea and certainly doesn't have to be done. I like to tinker with things at times even if not necessary, reasonable or makes sense. |
