Nice video!

I knew he'd had to make financial sacrifices in order to fund his training / travelling to events etc but the bit about the tyres really hits home the extent of it.

Looks like Cavendish and Keisse are riding Dolan DF4 rather than Specialized at the Gent Six Day

Good eye!

I've seen Specialized make 1-off bikes for Cav for winter 6-day stuff. I guess they didn't do that this year.

gtrob 11-20-14 09:13 AM

Can't say Ive seen too many cats on the track, especially indoors.

I once caught a butterfly in the mouth at IVBP

Of note - some photos show Andreas Muller riding his black-painted Giant Omnium, yes, aluminum in the Ghent 6.

Only used it for Saturday's race night so far, Im using a garmin 500 and it sync'd up just fine. Install was a breeze, external cups and standard bolts, took 20mins. Rotor crank looks awesome with an 'aero' ring, looks like 1 solid piece.

Data looks ok, I assume. Ive never had power on the track, its a little odd seeing zeros in the power I thought it would be a few watts still always. This is when coming off the front in a very short and fast paceline, like a TP half-lap pulls, goes from say 600w to zero suddenly. Cadence seems correct, although it tossed a couple of zeros in there during the zero power, so it looks a little funky.

I have a feeling it ignores/doesnt send cadence data when there is zero power, assumes I am coasting. Makes sense for a road/mtb mentality. While its not a problem, all it does is bring average cadence down a touch. Not sure if its normal or what. Looking at a friend's PT data it doesnt do that, even though it uses the power to predict cadence, it smooths it out.

I dont know what software will read left-right data, probably GC. Not sure I care yet anyway. Something like a scratch race data is pretty pointless really, its all over the place. Im most interested in kilo/pursuit/f200 data from nationals in 4 weeks.

Hmmmm....that's interesting. You should get cadence data even if you are "floating" over the pedals and not applying any pressure to them. It sounds like they are using an algorithm that senses pressure on the cranks an transmit that every revolution (just like SRM), but with SRM, it takes a long time of it not feeling any pressure at all for it to assume that you are off the bike. So, it's still broadcasting cadence.

I'm curious. Did you have to install any sort of magnet/switch/thingy near the BB that interacts with the cranks? Lack thereof is a clue to how they are making it work.
