Who is your go to mail order bike parts store?
 

Who is your go to mail order bike parts store? LBS's are my first stop but looking for a cassette and every local shop said they had to order one in and did not know when it would show. I have recently used Nashbar and Soma Fab with good luck. Who is everybody else using?

I like thebikesmiths.com for things I need to order online. They are usually my first stop when browsing for something.

My LBS does a good job, next is Universal, then Jenson

what is ben's? i did a quick google and turned up a lot of local shops by that name. well, local to those that live near by.

It will depend on the item.

I used to buy from bit UK retailers (Ribble, Wiggle, etc), but they no longer ship Shimano or SRAM parts to the USA, so that limits them a bit. Still I'd look at them for tires or tubes or such.

bike-discount.de would be my source for Wippermann chains or Bosch electronics. Generator parts?

Some things would be whoever popped up with a web search.

And, I've bought cassettes off of E-Bay. Sometimes even lightly used cassettes.

Why not tell us what cassette you are looking for that might help you find it better.

Ben's is a 100 year old 3rd? generation shop here in Milwaukee with a large internet presence. Bikesmith's as well has a brick & mortar shop here

For gear and accessories it's REI for me.. If they don't have it in stock then their shipping is fast..

For parts I order from any of the major players who have stock..

Cycling clothing I head to Cambria, bike parts I usually head to merlin cycles, and for tires/tubes I go to bike24.

Ehh technically 94 years...but they are an excellent shop, super friendly and helpful and their Milwaukee frames are made by Waterford. I haven't had a chance to visit them in person though : (

i avoid buying stuff online whenever possible, but it seems like there are so many parts/variations of parts/sizes/colors etc that often online is the only way to get something quickly. i'll often just google the part and see who has it but i most commonly end up at :

I am Canadian, so US stores are off the table. One of my favourites is XXcycle located in Toulouse France

i found what i needed. I was just wondering where others were buying from when whatever widget was not available locally..i have been given lots of good options, some i have heard of and forgotten about and others i had not heard of so very helpful. Colorado cyclist had what i needed.

Most recent purchases of tires, a 12-27 10 speed cassette and pedals were off ebay without a hitch.

Montgomery Ward when the local dry goods store doesn't have what I'm looking for. I see a nice whale oil lamp I might order...

Amazon, Ebay, Universal and Jenson. LBS is my last resort.

ah those were the days...send off a check, wait 6 or 7 days for the check to get there and another 7 days for the check to clear and in 6 or 7 more days you would have a new whale oil lamp...and we never complained if it was 30 days and no way to track it either just eagerly wait for the package to arrive...
