That's two things I can cross off my list.

What's that? Your first century and getting home?

(Well done!)

Hey... only been riding for less than 2 years.

Hills that were hard are now routine. I'm constantly looking for new goals, extending my distance and increasing my speed.

:D Oh, I was just wondering if the two things you did were your first century and heading east. You go far enough east on Long Island and you'll get wet. Just like Boston.

I've done segments of this ride before but not at one time.

I started out thinking I would head north do some hills and head home doing 25-30 miles. But the weather was nice and I felt good. A number of times I reached a intersection where I could of headed home or continued further east. Eventually I realized that I still had to ride home and there was only so many hours of daylight left. As I got close to home I realized that I was a few miles short of 62, so road some local streets to hit the number.

I see plenty of 50+ guys that have no problem doing 50+ miles with a lot of climbing and wonder if i'll ever get to that level. I assume they have been riding for years and don't have "day" jobs so they have the time ;)

Jeebuz I'm a horrible mountain bike rider. I did 13 miles, about half of it on a fairly tame single-track trail, and nearly killed myself about 5 times. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this stuff.

Got in a nice 20 miles at 15.1 avg this morning

Did 80 mi, 3500' elev in Harriman Park on a beautiful day to be outdoors. My time was 6:10 hrs which I'm very pleased with. I've been working on my speed for the last two weeks and today I pulled out all the stops, stripping my bike down to just 31 lbs for the ride.

Bikey Mikey 09-21-13 01:21 PM

43 miles this afternoon.

Gravity Aided 09-21-13 01:56 PM

Did a 50K charity ride for the Miles for Hope Run/Ride event along the Gulf Beaches today. It was just perfect weather for a bike ride along the beach. Nice Gulf breeze the whole time made it to where most people didn't even break out a sweat. We do another charity ride in Feb. that uses much of the same route as this one does. Looking forward to that one too.

Congrats oldnslow. You were in the zone!

Rode 40 miles this morning with my wife. Beautiful weather, great ride.

hiller 09-21-13 04:24 PM

Did a 'C' group ride today. Good turnout with lots of hybrid type bikes. The pace was real easy and all flat, besides.

48 mostly-flat mostly-rural miles on a club ride this morning.

JimF22003 09-22-13 03:11 AM

43 miles on the C&O canal trying to get the ride in before the rains start.

Remind me not to ride the Great Falls section again on the weekends....

Just don't go to Rock Creek Park. On NCIS, people are always being killed there.

Stopalot 09-22-13 11:58 AM

30 windy miles today. Beautiful day but the wind was worse than the hills.

John_V 09-22-13 03:14 PM

Got a late start on my ride this morning waiting for the rain to stop. Then I waited on the interstate for 40 minutes for a medivac from a single vehicle crash. Finally got my very muggy 47 mile ride in before the rain returned.

So, you did a metric century. Congratulations on the new milestone!

hiller 09-22-13 04:09 PM

Did a C* group ride, wich is one step over a plain C ride, with speeds 12-14 mph. I think I like this pace a lot at this time.

jimmuller 09-22-13 05:37 PM

No, I didn't. But I will ride my commute tomorrow.

Bikey Mikey 09-22-13 05:41 PM

30 windy miles today--fighting 9mph sustained with 20mph gusts.

Yes, I did ride (Back Roads Century). But I will not ride my commute tomorrow (because I'm retired). :)
