Okay, I'll be one of those guys who post "I only rode [something] miles, but it was [some way]."
Only 14-ish miles, but it was rolling hills, and I averaged nearly 20 mph on fixed gear. But Broctoon, why would you ride at a place like that? You didn't even go anywhere! I'll just note that the peaks definitely come when I'm on one of the two descents of this course, but the troughs don't necessarily coincide with the two climbs, as I like to sprint up hills as hard as I can. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5fc6f20adf.jpg This workout is very strenuous and very fun. It doesn't hurt that lots of pretty girls like to walk and jog this course. I'm always trying to beat my previous best lap time or best overall time for 10 laps. One thing that occurs to me (should be obvious, but may not be) is that average speed doesn't mean much. I can do a tempo workout, 20 + or - 2 mph on level ground for about 60 minutes, and not be nearly as exhausted as I get after riding this 42 minute workout, which was 19.6 mph average speed, but fluctuating from about 14 to 32 mph. There are 20 cycles of climb-flat-descend, and my poor little ticker never knows what's coming next! Fixed gear bike is a deliberate choice for this workout, because it allows no cheating. It requires or at least encourages me to push as hard as I can up hills and spin a very fast cadence down them. Also, there is of course no coasting, ever. |

48 miles, only asked for a few dollars by a stranger. I don't always carry cash, today was that day. I had a spare water & tube tho.

I did 4 minutes at 40 RPM average today on a semi-recumbent trainer. Considering I had my left knee replaced 9 weeks ago and the right knee 4 weeks ago today I'm pretty happy with that. One week ago I could barely get on the bike much less go all the way around with my right knee. I'm getting my folding bike out tomorrow and attempting a real ride. Fingers crossed.

I felt good this morning, and road my gravel bike on the road for my longest ride, 70 miles. Im still getting use to cycling after 40 years of running.
Im thinking about getting a road bike, but at age 65, I like the smooth ride of my gravel bike. |

Just finished a nice 24 miles to and from the beach (Rockaway Peninsula in NYC), mostly flat. It’s nice being out there at 7 a.m.

120 km….1241 m….sounds better than 75 miles and 4,027 ft :rolleyes:….rode from 4 AM to just after 9….some tough weather for about an hour….

Sat Aug 27. My phone app said 88km. My Garmin gps said 84km. 6hr35min. Almost the limit of my camera memory and batteries.

Around the north end of Lake Washington
Longest in quite a while. 35.5 and about 1,700 feet of gain. Along the Interurban Trail and then east to the Burke Gilman Trail. Along Waynita Way into Kirkland. The Kirkland Connector Trail which has a few miles of gravel. Northrup Way to the 520 Bike Trail across the bridge and then through the Univ of Washington and home. The spur for the trip was that the 520 Bridge across Lake Washington was closed for construction making it QUIET whereas it is normally a complete assault on the ears! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7de0ef2bc6.jpg |
