22-spot on a beautiful fall day here in metro san diego. the santa ana winds on tap this coming week
starting monday. here comes the heat (again) and the inevitable fires. |
100.9 miles
|
26 miles, 2300 feet of ascent. This puts me at 115 miles for the week. I'm shooting for 160 for the week ending Sunday. This is the best week I've had in about 6 weeks.
|
Nada for me today. I did 20 on Wed and 20 on Thurs.
I can't ride much further than that until my new Lakes arrive, because my Sidis are too narrow, pinching the nerve that runs between metatarsals in both feet, and after 30+ miles, gets incredibly painful. I've been properly fitted for shoes, now, so the Lake 332's should fix it. |
22 Today, Beautiful day, not as smoky!

70 miles around Lake Pepin |
12.4 miles with my young son and daughter. We saw a dead snake, a dead opossum, a dead squirrel, and a few kamikaze squirrels.
This was my son's first ride on his new geared bike, and he was delighted with it. We can't wait for my daughter's geared bike to arrive in 4 weeks or so. The gears and 20" wheels will be a vast improvement over her 16"-wheeled Walmart bike. |
102.8 miles in one of last warm days for the year.
|
I did my first ever Metric Century ride, I’ve ridden 3 marathon races over the last 4 years, with my daughter on our Tandem, but I’ve recently picked up my first real road bike and have caught the bug for some distance! The farthest I’ve ridden this year was 22 miles about three weeks ago.
It was slow going as we had a fairly stiff headwind the entire way and we took two beer breaks at 20 mile intervals, I was a group ride with our local Pub Runners, so you knew beer was going to be there. I was sore everywhere but my legs, the worst were my trapezius, palms and butt... it was a chore to get up this morning for sure! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c62f52fd6.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e19fd8a3c.jpeg |

Woohoo!
Nice job, great looking bike! I think I need to turn my bars up a little, similar to your.

I am happy with the set up but after all these years I think I am going to freshen the front end with a new fork, more compact bars and a new stem.

Today was a day off. Yesterday I did a 101.1 km gravel ride, 1699 m. It was also a milestone ride, giving me 7001 km on the season, and 96,513 m climbing. I want to finish the season at 100,000 m (330,000 ft), with whatever km it takes to get there. Based on my average of about 14 m per km, I estimate another 250 km to achieve it. After that it will be all bonus km and m! I did just over 300 km this week. My best week this year was 401 km.
It's been a record year for me, thanks to the pandemic (not much else to do...). My previous best ever season was 5033 km. Not bad for a 62 y.o. geezer... |
38.5 miles

a 112 miles in the form of a 104 mile c-note from san juan capistrano south to san diego (after a train ride from sd to sjc) and another, unexpected 8 mile ride to recover a lost saddlebag (in the last 4 miles of the first ride)
containing car/haus keys, two debit cards, $50 in cash, two tubes, two tire irons and a multitool. not nearly as good as the op tho... |
Rode to pick up my car at the shop. Only 22 miles with 750’ climbing at 19.3 Ave speed. If it was all flat definitely over 20. Love my new Bianchi. Can’t believe what a difference a good bike with a good wheel set makes.

26 miles more than 1/2 of it in the 40F mist
|
133 miles yesterday, then added 40 more today. Rest day tomorrow. ;)
|
110+ miles yesterday, then added 37 more today. No rest (day) for the wicked (people just don't understand) so 15-20 more miles tomorrow.

A leisurely 28 with 1300 feet climbing. 16.3 Average with top speed of 43. The best thing was not feeling tired/beat after the ride but content.
|
59.69 miles
|
30 miles in the 100F heat, at least for a little while
|
32 with the Mrs on her E bike (Specialized Como). She can really haul a** on that thing, on low speed (pedal assist) especially on hill climbs. I am a decent climber, but I have to struggle to keep up. A tow rope may be in order, or let some air out of her tires.

42 milles was 34°F
