Shimano GRX Limited Edition

I thought all of GRX was limited edition, especially the brake pads.

I'm sure the pricing will be reflected.

Having said that, I would get that crankset (but only if the small chainring is 30T, not 31T).

Oh, it's polished. Its hard to tell from the photo; it's nice to see modern silver parts.

Looks nice, but regular GRX parts are hard enough to come by!

Ooh, Shimano offers an exciting new colorway: "not black." 😴

mstateglfr 05-31-22 08:52 PM

Polished silver for the classic Campy built Colnagoo?...for sure, but I really like black on modern gravel builds.

Polaris OBark 05-31-22 08:55 PM

They also announced a new carbon gravel wheel-set.

I think it looks really nice. I wish they offered this and a polished version of Ultegra all the time.

msu2001la 06-02-22 09:28 AM

This looks nice. I wish they used a matching silver color for the plastic bits in the derailleur.

Does this still have the grippy soft texture on the levers? The finish on my black GRX shifters is peeling off after 2 years. For such an expensive product designed for more rugged use, this is really disappointing.

I like silver and hate black. I miss the old days of polished aluminum. I have a GRX crank already and wouldnt pay for silver. I run low gearing due to myknees.

So the elephant in the room is this unanswered question : which retailer has these available for sale & in stock?

LOL, none!

chaadster 06-26-22 08:42 AM

Ooh, that’s gonna make some interesting builds! The decision to leave the inner ring on the double in black is dubious, but perhaps for the modern bike, where so much is black, like rims, stem, seatpost, etc,, it makes good sense and ties everything in. I’m looking forward to see what folks do!

That's why they are called "Limited Edition" with a shiny finish of Unobtanium.

.

So the search begins! There is a Japanese bike shop with "Banana" in the name that sells grey market Shimano stuff in the US, I may check with them.

Shimano said they would only produce a few thousand of the groupsets and builders would get first crack.

Polaris OBark 06-27-22 01:59 PM

That would be really cool if they were to offer these to small independent builders instead of being monopolized by Big Gravel(™).

tyrion 06-27-22 05:55 PM

You could just get regular GRX and spray paint it silver.

Or spray oven cleaner or some other oxidizing agent on it and scrub.

Unfortunately, I am not planning to live long enough to consider that a reasonable use of my time.

Ghazmh 06-29-22 02:48 AM

I keep coming back to this thread to look at that picture. If I could simply order it from a reputable online retailer I’d buy a full set for my ti gravel bike and another to replace the Ultegra on my ti rain bike,

Polaris OBark 06-29-22 02:52 PM

I just impulse-bought my wife a Ti frame. This would be perfect, but I've got a bad feeling mere mortals aren't going see this up for sale.
