Fifteen slow miles on a Brompton on gorgeous day. Currently it's 63°F and sunny in my little corner of Texas :)

0 miles. MTB is broken and waiting to be fixed 😭

GhostRider62 02-08-22 05:39 PM

22 miles but it was really warm today. 34F with 15 mph wind. I'm a little tired from the effort.....pathetic.....but it is what it is.

diphthong 02-08-22 06:44 PM

out of town socal 39-spot. 17% humidity and chapped lips. 77 degrees. wanted more miles but the legs declined the transaction.

I have been riding slow paced, shorter rides since recovering from the flu, using my on the heavy side Schwinn SS DBX, my Poprad and a Fuji Ace that is now in the process of being refinished. All have racks, wider tires and are are set up as all road type bikes. I had not been on a couple of my faster bikes for a while. Yesterday it was my Orbea Avant. Today, I got on my Lemond Tourmalet, which I had not been ridden in a couple of months. I still stuck to a shorter ride, 17 miles or so, but I did kick up the pace, for a number of miles anyway. It really felt good to push it a bit. My legs felt strong, breathing was good and it got the heart rate up. I still felt a little tired the last few miles, but I had already had a busy day.

I have more appreciation for more casual, slower paced rides these days. But today, I found that I still get a big grin and that feeling of being kid-like when riding a bike that just makes me feel like I want, need to go fast. My two bikes that do that to me are the Tourmalet and my titanium Airborne Zeppelin. The Avant also, but it's geometry is less aggressive. That is not to say I don't like to go fast on my other bikes. But the Tourmalet and Zeppelin give me the feeling that not only I want to go fast, the bikes do too. Guess what bike gets the ride tomorrow.

After -35 F, 30 F feels like summer. A 22 mile ride to buy parts for project brought great joy.

32 miles on mostly dry roads after winter storm thaw out. Nice to have 60's after a week of freezing with snow and ice.

That Surly looks to be setup nice for winter riding or some serious gravel / dirt challenges.

Nice to have lots a riding options.
After all the covid news maybe its good yours was only the flu and your back to action. Im guessing the Ti Zep.

Both are correct. I was sure I had covid, even though I had all 3 vacs. When the test result was negative, I was a bit surprised. I cannot say relieved as I was still sick. I had not had the flu in many years, no bug at all in 5 or 6 years. I have never before had a bug that gave me the sweats and chills, especially at night, or body aches as bad as this was. My upper body especially. I had my yearly wellness check up just a few days after finally getting through feeling so bad. My PC doctor asked me if I would think about getting the flu shot next year, due to my not getting one in quite a while. I told her it was likely I would. Maybe it's the age, maybe the strain of flu this year, it really took a toll.

I so enjoyed picking up the pace yesterday, the Zeppelin is definitely my ride today. Just thinking about it now puts a smile on my face. We are looking at mid 50's, sunshine and SE wind at 10 mph. Woo Hoo!

Curious, why no front fender. Perhaps foot overlap?

I just stripped and rebuilt the bike. Forgot the fender and now I'm lazy. Got to get it done though, with all the snow and salt.

That was my second guess. Nice bike.

Did about 7 miles. Curious about the state of the trail. Still a mess, half mud and half ice. The mud is fine but the ice just makes it less fun.

And we are complaining about 48F with very gray, chilly looking clouds.

That is a good week for winter here!

0 cause of flat tyre

Just my usual simple variations on the 15+ mile loop.

But the kite surfer added some interest and there were small waves where it is usually rather calm. Standing taking the picture was a full throated wind. And in a bit of extra fun, my Pixel decided it would make a PAN for me so it doubled the kite!!!

26-spot. 23% humidity. 2-5 mph breezes. 84 degrees...did have a flat tire for the first time in 1.5 years so there's that.

Edmonds, WA - up and back

31 miles and about 1,100 feet of gain and I feel every inch of it!

That's once again, Mt Baker (I zoomed in) up near the Canadian Border about 80-90 miles as a crow flies. It is one of our volcanoes and there's a vent up at the top that roars like a freight train and smells like sulfur.
