I still have a walkman, but only one tape. Bird calls.

I can clearly remember when 0-60 in 6.6 seconds was a sporty car. Now, your average Honda Accord can do that.

When the secondary purpose of playing a tape was to drown out the sounds of my rattling car, the quality of the tape was fairly irrelevant. I just needed it to be loud.

I'm fairly sure the 5000 lb box I drive ('17 Explorer) is close to that.

Maybe even faster: Tested: 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum (caranddriver.com)

You didn't know you are so sporty!

My Explorer is the XLT with a slightly less powerful engine than the one in that test, so it will probably be closer to the 944 number ;)

The article - comparing a '16 Explorer Sport to a '17 Explorer Platinum - is kind of dumb. The '17 model year got an upgrade to the info-tainment system, but they are mechanically identical vehicles. The Platinum is the luxury-trimmed version of the Sport.

The newer Explorers are surprisingly agile for a big box. My '17 is a big step up from my previous '06.

And, like my Dodge, go 80,000 miles on nothing but oil changes every 10,000 miles. A car with 80,000 miles on it used to be considered almost ready to junk.

Our Acura has 130k miles and has only needed tires, brakes and timing. My VW has 85k and has just needed tires and brakes

Not just "considered", but was ready to junk.

My '17 Explorer has 89k. The only thing significant it has needed was a new water pump (a known weakness of the Explorer).

The subwoofers at the end are similar to mine. And the guy has the same cart as I have in my system. Like minds and all that.

All the warming and cooling close together. Philly still has lots of cast iron mains that are over 100 years old. Some well over that. Last months there were 30 breaks of various sizes in one day. This weekend could get interesting. Flirting with 60 on Saturday, but only a high of 34 on Sunday.

Maybe 6 years ago I was working with the city to replace a storm sewer across my employer's property. The thing was so old it was made out of wood.

That's Steve - an old industry friend of mine. He worked at Singer in the early days, before I did. We chatted a lot and played with all of the new toys whenever he popped in to the shop and I'm pretty sure that our conversations made it in to a least of couple of his articles for Stereophile.
