Note: The stock market doesn't always trade on fundamentals.

LesterOfPuppets might like this. One of our owners shipped an EOT device from Cumberland, MD to our corporate headquarters with no explanation and no packaging. The UPS guy was not happy about having to lug the heavy, dirty thing.

Windy a/f here so I mtb'd around the neighborhood. Some little canyons to climb and they connect to each other further up.

In my mind, there is a difference between trading and investing.

If simply trading and hoping for quick profit, then PTON might be in play. As an investment, it seems it is in some big trouble.

I did exactly that with PTON when it was in the $35 range. I had it for a few days. I had never done trading like that, and it seemed to suit me. But games of chance, in general, don't suit me, so I gave it all up. I'll just leave it to the trainsnorters of the world.

My trouble with trading is that I don't have the balls to put enough in play to make a difference. I quit trying a while back, and now just let my financial planner handle that stuff.

It has that convenient carrying handle, I see no room for complaints :)

There are a few people from our NJ office here today. No one knew what it was. They asked me what is was when I got back from lunch. How random. I know CSX has a large yard and shop facilities in Cumberland. There is an inspection sticker on it from 2020.

Most of my stocks are high dividend stocks, but they're showing a little growth this year too, up 2.43% YTD.

I think my 401k is down this year, though. :(

I had to go take a look, -$4.42. Whew, I thought that was a percentage at first.

I buy but rarely sell. I never bought PTON.

Say what now?

I’m currently watching Donnie Darko on HBO Max. I’ve seen this movie at least 3x and still don’t fully understand it. :foo:

Can’t not watch it though when it comes on.

We have three investment accounts - two managed by different managers, and one that I manage personally that is mostly our personal cash reserve. Across all three, we were up 13.8% last year. That's less than the S&P return, but we have a fair amount in "buffer" funds that give up a little on the upside to protect against any drops in the market.

I've always understood that there are three types:
  • "Dumb" or "Fred" units that are just a flashing light or flag to indicate end of train, but no ability to transmit data
  • "Average intelligence" with brake pipe pressure gauges
  • "Smart" units that transmit other data to the locomotive through telemetry systems to the HOT unit

Ah. I am pretty sure it's smart.

I read Pynchon's "Gravity's Rainbow" three times, in order to maybe understand it.

I rode a bike today. Between 5 and 6 km, to the store and back. I still remember how. It felt great

The movie is almost over and I still don’t get it. I know the theory but can’t reconcile it with the movie in my pea brain.
