I think it weighed about 28 or 30 pounds in that pic, without the mud. ;)
After I'm done installing the current upgrades, it'll probably be a couple of pounds lighter. I'll weigh it at some point. It'll be about as weight weenie as a fat bike gets, I suppose. I mean, a light fat bike tire is around 1100 grams, so WWism is kind of pointless. |

In 1993 I worked at a GMC dealer and bought a new truck for $11.500. It had a V6, 5 speed, and 3.08 differential, so it got better than 20mpg hwy. With a 34 gallon tank it had a range of over 600 miles. When we moved to snow country I traded it in on a Subaru for the wife and I got the old Tercel p.o.s.
Looked like this but dark blue. https://images1.americanlisted.com/n...d_26270333.jpg |

That's why I run plus tyres on my fatbike. 800gr 3.0" tyres are so nice! :)

Are they 27.5? My mtb is 32 pounds with 27.5 x 2.8 Maxxis Rekon tires which are about 825 grams each.

26" with a 4.6 Specialized Ground Control in that picture. I could fit 27.5", but I'd be limited to 4.0".

Have you taken it in the snow with the 3.0s?
Most of my snow riding has been in this kinda stuff, couple to 4 inches of fresh over sometimes rutted, lumpy ice/packed snow. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4b8ea5145.jpeg |

My neighbor has that truck with an automatic. Also, dark blue. The family has had it since new. People are often surprised that it's not all rusted out. Their secret? It over-winters in the barn.

I have some Maxxis Colossus 4.8s to put on the HED carbon wheelset. I originally planned to pair them with a 4.0 tire (Maxxis Juggernaut or Schwalbe Jumbo Jim), but fat bike tires are hard to come by lately so you take what you can get.

Recall I could not get my new Garmin 530 to pair with my Varia? I had some time to futz around and after a factory reset, it seems to work. Will do a real road test tomorrow.

A friend had a Pugsley with 4.0s and I took him to a trail with lots of climbing. There are a few steep switchbacks littered with rocks and sand. He just cruised around those turns like they were easy.

How is this even a place? "Too hot," if it even exists, is only two months a year. |
