Me too. I HATE it and how they dumb everything down...often to a point of saying stupid things. Usually I stream eurosport, but my internet is spotty for a few days.

This stage is so, so good.

Totally epic.

Das powerkraut takes it. Sadly I can only watch the twitter verse.

globecanvas 07-07-15 11:03 AM

Pinot had to receive assistance "when the battery in his derailleur went flat."

grolby 07-07-15 11:21 AM

More likely a loose wire than a flat battery.

either way, losing 6+ minutes isnt a ringing endorsement for an electronic groupo

globecanvas 07-07-15 03:37 PM

Looks like it was Shimano di2... would have been more interesting if it was the new SRAM electronic setup.

AMFJ 07-07-15 03:49 PM

^If it had been SRAM, the excellent customer service would have had him a new rear derailleur in 48 hours.

What a great win by Tony.

not easy, but they never really chased to win.

shovelhd 07-07-15 08:42 PM

So what? I've won this way, you've won this way. It's all about the catch, and they didn't.

TheKillerPenguin 07-07-15 08:44 PM

And on a teammate's bike!

spectastic 07-07-15 09:21 PM

where's terpstra ?

... and wiggins??

plus it would only distract cav's team from helping him win stages. gotta focus.

you are right. this is a good point. i didn't think of that. the yellow jersey is, of course, prestigious (even more than a stage win, perhaps), but it would come with some obligations.

my eurosport feed is SO slow. it's been unwatchable. i had to cave and get the NBC app. :(

at least the video is great.

if di2 hadn't been raced in the world tour for 6+ years, this might be a thing.

pinot looked done before this happened, at least to my eye.

still, mechanicals suck but that's part of them throwing cobbles in there.

mattm 07-08-15 12:30 AM

we need a new name when electronics fail.

anyway +1 in a great stage today. froome played a great chess match by handing off the yellow jersey to a pawn. good for tony tho!

and awesome that nairo made the split!

Fwiw, Martin said post-race that it was as high a power as he has ever seen for the duration. Obv that is probably not literally true, but dude can ride and had to crush himself to win. "Never really chased" might have been a trick of the camera angles we were presented with. Hard to say 100%.

How about an "electronical"? And +1 on Quintana, and on Movistar for making that possible.

right...no one has lost a TDF to an issue with a mechanical group before.....where is Andy Schleck these days?

nibali seems so comfortable on the cobbles and is such a good racer in general you could almost see him give Paris Roubaix a go for giggles

Duke of Kent 07-08-15 08:39 AM

I'm not sure if I like this new style of "racing". Sky, BMC, Astana, Movistar all lined out next to each other at the front, 4-5 deep each. Mile after mile.

gsteinb 07-08-15 08:56 AM

I kinda always assumed people watched this stuff ironically. Flip the top on a PBR and watch the destruction of all that's holy with a bemused detachment and knowing smirk while picking urban BBQ out of your beard.
