Another Paramount PDG thread...

Did a little digging and it seems like these threads happen from time to time so....
Was lucky to score this 1991 Schwinn Paramount series 3 PDG for less than the cost of a nice bike tire! I'm really excited that it's a perfect fit. Stamped "6" on underside of bb, and serial number at bottom of headtube. Looks like only non original parts are saddle and front wheel. Even the pedals seem to be original. I weighed it at right around 23lbs. So it seems it's a 5"6" made by Panasonic. Sat on FB Marketplace for "over a week" and the pretty quick reply when I asked if he still had it was...."yes". I was actually out bike hunting when I saw the post, and went straight to get it! Attached the pic from the FB post. It's very dirty with minimal paint damage. Should clean up nice.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c77e52a055.jpg

Nice bike, made in Taiwan, I think, but I'm not sure. Some of the PDG Series were made in Taiwan (I was thinking 2 and 3) and the others in Japan (5 and 7), but I could be wrong.

Tange OS Tubing.

Nice frames, excellent forks. The decals are rather large, as such are susceptible to rough handling, but they are nice bikes overall.

I had a 92 Series 3, yes fragile decals, but the nicest ride ever! If another popped up that actually fit right, I'd probably jump on it.

I have a PDG2 and it rides very similar to and as nice as my 1974 P10-9 real Paramount. Roger

Came to me as a frame which I built up.
Love these Paramounts! Mine is a 91 as well series 3 as well. Great ride!

All 1991-1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 2. 3, 5, 7 were made by Panasonic in Japan. (Serial numbers: 0xxxxxx, 1xxxxxx, 2xxxxxx)

So welcome aboard, glad you found us.

That being said, these are zombie threads, hard to say what the response's may be, some of the players are still active so...

The resident experts may be along to weigh in.

My PDG 3 is back in the Q getting set for a rebuild.

Hi,
I just acquired what appears to be the same frame set. Same color & silver labeling, but no PDG graphics. The number on the BB on mine could be a 9 since the little bar is below the tail on the number. My serial number on the bottom of the head tube is: 1A03426. Is yours similar? The fork is different, so, probably not original.
Regards,
Van

My 92 PDG 5 is my daily rider. I put tubulars on it several months ago. This bike slices through a headwind like no other.
