It's a lowly ball point pen. Pen snobs such as rjones28 wouldn't even bother with it. However it works and may come handy in the car sometime.

Today I found a blue pen and $10 bill whilst mowing. :bday:

I have a Bic in the glovebox of the Jeep.

Anyone got any sure fire time-trialling tips? We're talking a fairly hilly 20 mi. Training? Strategy? I'm working on HTFU.

I learned in the Addiction time trial that you've got to pace yourself.

You're welcome.

It pays to get your rest where you can

I am currently getting 9-11 hrs for about 450-700 TSS. That seems like plenty for my age. I’ve had to cut back lately for sailing, but the good weather is about to end.

TT bike or road bike? Pacing, always - it'll feel too slow out of the gate. For training, the high aerobic area is most immediately helpful, if you don't have time to do a sequence of blocks.

Road bike, so no big positioning issues. I’ve done two this season and I’m pretty happy with my pacing. I’m just slow. I have been trying to polarize with lots of Z2 and two days (including the TT) of threshold and subthreshold, respectively. No idea what’s right at age 64, though.

BB squeaking sound gone.

Speaking of BB sounds, I have a "click" in my BB that has been there for several months and I can't isolate it nor get rid of it.

But it has a personality, it ONLY shows up under significant torque/power, I would estimate it shows up whenever I go over my FTP. Routine cruising even at tempo is quiet.

So I have learned to accept it and consider it my poor-man's power meter.

I'm a dumb noob, but a few ideas have crystallized recently:
  • it's easier to lose time than to make up time, so make up time when you can
  • 90% is resting, with very little physiological cost (over this kind of duration, at least)
  • "rest" downhill - it's free money that adds up (see points 1 & 2)

Just clipped a Paper Mate into the tool pocket of my work jeans.

WhyFi 06-19-20 06:57 AM

BTW, I'm super jonesing for the Zipp 303S wheelset. If I could have found them in stock someplace yesterday, I prolly would have pulled the trigger.
