My brand new sram force chain failed this morning as I was riding out of my drive way. I didn’t realize what had happened, was barely moving so of course fell over. Scratch my right hood up and damage the tape. I hope nothing else is damaged, but it was 4 am and dark. I did fall on the drive side, but my body took most of the fall and my drive way has a fairly steep pitch.
looks like the quick link failed. The quicklink was still together but it’s like it didn’t hold the chain together. I don’t think I put the chain on backwards but I also couldn’t tell which direction it was supposed to go. |

My friend who I rode with today said his mom's boyfriend was going home today after a few weeks in a nursing facility following a hip surgery. Not sure of it was a THR or just a bolt together but he's 96. My friend says he's still in denial about his aging and was not using a walker or even a cane when he fell and broke his hip.

Slow morning. Everyone must be reliving last night's NBA finals game. Which I do not yet know the outcome of. I was watching highlights last evening It has become a 3 pointer game. Can't say as I like the change.

I drove through driving rain yesterday afternoon, so thick that I got behind a bus and stayed there, flashers flashing. At home, of course, 10 km away, the streets were dry.

What else? I should be able to fully catch up on the mowing today, after things dry out. We get a very heavy dew in the night. I noticed some of the native corn we planted a few days ago is up. We planted native Lima beans to climb the stalks. They are up too. And some native water gourds.
