Party at Billy's!

Sorry. I figured it was sort of evident in my diagram I posted. Tick a lock from now on.

Last night on eBay I saw a listing for a phone that's in "mint condition" except for the cracked screen.

I think VV needs to live a little (and work on his car a lot)

Root Beer Spitfire only $3500! Listed on FB in Greenville 3 weeks ago, so maybe offer $2k...

And check to make sure the floor boards have not rusted away.

Before you think of getting an English sports car from that era, watch this video.

That, and a Lucas electical system.

When I owned my MGB, I used to joke that everyone was so excited about those new-fangled intermittent wipers, but I had intermittent lights!

genejockey 01-26-22 12:12 PM

Okay, to be perfectly honest, if I had a lot of money to spare, and a place to garage it and work on it, I'd be tempted to buy an English sports car, BUT it would have to be in great condition, because I'm not a car mechanic, AND it would be just for s**ts and giggles, not something I had to rely on. There's a lot you can do for yourself on those, because they're pretty simple, but I know enough to know what I don't know.

Jack Tone 01-26-22 12:21 PM

Lucas...the Prince of Darkness
My first car, at 15 1/2, was a 52 MGTD barn find that I bought for $300. I learned and failed several times at rebuilding it. I had a LOT of fun driving it when it worked. Finally sold it, disassembled for $4000.

LAJ 01-26-22 12:23 PM

I would be happy with an XKE, simply because the straight 6 in those are jewelry.

Yeah Dad's ol' Lotus Europa had Lucas electrical stuff, and something was always on the fritz. And it had that sweet Renault engine!

ls01 01-26-22 12:37 PM

Since I repaired-ish the Avalanche I kinda have the bug to build another engine for the firebird. I was thinking a 6 litre with a nice thumpy cam, ported 799 or 243 heads. Maybe another Camaro?...I have lots of parts laying around still....

When will I learn?

Hard to imagine that bunch of guys who are really into wheeled conveyances of one sort might be really into wheeled conveyances of another.
