Bad news: weather outlook for the weekend and next week is kinda rainy.

Rainy day on vacation beats a sunny day in the office.

True. I might just have to eat less so I don't become one of those potbellied cyclists I have read about in the 41.

I've never seen a potbellied vegetarian. Unless they were also a big beer drinker.

Meh.

Tried using letter elimination words, and as you can see, all they did was eliminate letters, not yield any others.

I know some. They tend to be pasta-tarians and/or bread-itarians though. Too many calories can make anyone too heavy.

Happy birthday, Big John!

Every one is a good one!

:bday: big john! 68. Not too long, and your racing age will be 70. Go do a road race or two, and get some swag. You're riding well enough to go out and play, should you choose.

It's called a Hi-Rail vehicle. I got to drive one for a bit several years ago. It wasn't that special, but the location wasn't spectacular. There is a Velcro harness contraption that prevents you from turning the steering wheel.

Does it feel significantly different from yesterday, when you were 67?

:bday:, BTW!

It's like driving a car on a track but not like driving a car on a track.

I prefer driving a car on a track.

No, you actually look like a cyclist.

No, not from yesterday, but different than a few years ago, for sure.

I may look like a serious cyclist, too bad I can't ride like one!

I have never done an actual FTP test, but would estimate it to be roughly 3 W/Kg, which is clearly mediocre by serious cyclist standards.

This is just hyperbole. I'm glad you have had good luck with them but they are just cars.

Perhaps, but I use it as shorthand to say that in the opinion of the general population of car buyers, Toyota vehicles, when even reasonably maintained, will easily get you 200k if not 300k, and they won't nickel and dime you to death with chintzy problems caused by inferior parts and shoddy workmanship.

Anecdotally, I used to commute with Cressida's back in the day. I bought them used, always with 100k+ miles on them, and never failed to at least double that mileage before replacing with a newer one. My best Cressida gave me 350k+ miles before giving up the ghost. My '77 Celica simply would not die no matter how much I neglected it; it finally succumbed to unsightly rust. Sentimentally my favorite car, earned me several speeding tickets over the years.

FTP is not the only or best measure.

You deserve more credit than you give yourself.

My '75 Celica (first car) did exactly the same!

When I finished school, I bought a new car. I asked what they would give me for the Celica in trade, and was told that they would give nothing as it was dying of cancer, but they would only charge me $50 to dispose of it. Seemed fair.

My most recent oil change, on the Fit, he told me 10,000 km or one year, with synthetic. While it was on warranty, Honda changed it every 5,000 km. I just had the second trans fluid change, on Monday. 64,000 km. That should be good for a good long while, so I hear. Zero experience with automatics.
