Photographic evidence of above, from today's ride. It would be bad enough if this were the only development in progress, but it's not.

I also (briefly) left the friendly confines of Knox County. :(

36 miles, 0 flybys. I don't recall even seeing another cyclist. Only a runner.

Thatís actually the view from the right side of the ferry. I believe you call it port. The wind was blowing so hard a small, older woman couldnít open a front door.

Right = starboard

Left = port (note 4 letters)

You have two garage doors? Fancy.

I get it, I really do... but it's also worth remembering we're in a major housing crunch, and it's easy to complain about new development when it's not your rent skyrocketing because private equity has bought your complex, and people like me are buying the existing houses with tech salaries.

I thought you'd be excited about the fresh slabs of bitumen.

My daughterís real estate agent told them that if they hesitate on a house they like in Austin, it will be sold before they make an offer.

Everybody is afraid of what the new Tesla factory will do to available housing.

And I'm hoping it'll make this house sell to someone who'll actually appreciate it. Worried about buying 1000 miles away since I hate the thought of buying sight unseen, but the high-six-figure houses are slower to sell, at least.

That's not the real road. Heaven forbid they actually repave that. That's a road they just built to access the dumb houses-to-be.

They are looking south of the river and east of Barton Creek. It’s beyond my comprehension how much 1600’ 50 year old houses are selling for.

Bituminous base course looks a lot like that.

Port light or fixed light?

They're going to put another layer on top? I didn't look at it closely. Just rode up the hill far enough to get a decent picture of the carnage. I'm kind of surprised they even did that much, with all the heavy machinery yet to go in and out.

Could be temporary if they will pave with cement. Or, it could be a sub-base.

A worn out mattress getting used for extracurricular activities. An old warped wooden floor being walked on.

I was going to comment this morning that the Canyon sometimes creaks a little like that, but then on today's ride, it was creaking just like that almost nonstop. Who thought press fit bottom brackets were a good idea?

If it’s bituminous base course or bituminous aggregate mixture, there would be at least two more lifts to go. It all depends on the design structure which can be accomplished several different ways.

It could also be base course for a concrete street.

Then again, it could be temporary. You’ll just have to keep an eye on it and report back. :)

I dunno, this is Tennessee we're talking about. Just put in a stop sign and call it good :)
