Not a guarantee of a quiet bottom bracket.

Proper installation. Not sure that counts as a secret.

Great idea. Will try it.

I do hope it's not real. If it is, I may be stuck with 23mm which is not the end of the world, but I think 25's are ideal for me.

I am able to put 25s on the 09 Tarmac, no problem. But Contador is an '11 and I think they were shrinking the gaps for erodynamic reasons . It's not a lot smaller but it would rub on climbs, which was really frustrating. It was like being held back by an invisible hand. And the harder I tried the more it flexed the wheel and the harder it would rub. I remember after a particularly hard climb, after everyone else passed me, I heard the wheel make contact. I used the tape to confirm it later that week.

3000 miles, maybe mine is kaput? taking it in on Thursday.

rjones28 04-18-22 06:37 AM

First, make sure everything is clean. Next, apply grease or bearing retaining compound as directed by the BB manufacturer. Finally, tighten to the indicated torque.

Probably just needs to be cleaned and reinstalled.

bampilot06 04-18-22 06:45 AM

speaking of tire clearance. One of the guys I ride with has the cervelo S series with the weird bars. The rear wheel tire clearance to the back of the seat post is soooooo small. It’s almost eye twitchy. Doesn’t even look like a penny could fit.

question for the medical expertise. Something I have noticed for a while now. On weeks I ride a lot, by the end of the week when I stand up from a seating position I feel like I could black out. Is this my body telling me I am fatigued or dehydrated? If I take a break then all is normal again.

Ill let my mechanic do it. I tend to make things worse.

Press fit and bb30 is an abomination. An affront to the eyes of Eddie Mercx

Stand up slower. Low resting heart rate.

The BB30 on my Allez has been trouble-free. I actually ran the first set of bearings dry (no grease between the shell and the bearing), no issues. I used retaining compound with the next set.

In between those two bearing sets, I had a Wheels Mfg. conversion BB for a Quarq PM crank. Quiet.

I'm sure he'll forgive you for misspelling his name.

Late to the party. My 2020 Domane has the T47.

I switched to the BBinfiniti T47 for Trek a couple of months ago. Smooth as a baby's butt. More quiet than a baby also.

genejockey needs to stop with this onesy-twosey action, and just go all in.

It's a drop in your blood pressure. Possibly normal but could be dehydrated.

When I cracked the crankarm last September the thing had at least 45K miles on it. I had it apart no more than twice in that time and no parts were ever replaced.

not pressed fit

I'm thinking of maybe getting at 'thread fit' BB. The question is, is it worth the bother? How much does it bother me? I hadn't noticed it when the Canyon was on the trainer.

Then again, I've got fans blowing and music playing. Maybe I need to do that on the road. I stopped on the side for a moment yesterday and some guy rode by with music playing. That seemed weird. Also intrusive.

He needs Brawndo. It's got what plants crave.
