KIDDING :twitchy:

So you are one of beng’s suckers.

My general take on ethnic and other slurs is that, as Whitey McWhiteguy from Whitesville, Whitesylvania, I'm the LAST person who should be deciding what is or isn't offensive.

I do sometimes wonder whether he just stole some pics of a crappy old Schwinn Boat Anchor from Craigs List, and then posts them to burnish his "Fast guy on a **** bike" cred.

Nothing about his pics gives me the impression that he's a formidable rider. Is that something that he claims? Lol.

Would be wonderful if we didn't just swap our (collective) biases around and got rid of them...

My dad was horrified when he found out he might have French blood in his veins. He was stationed there during the second world war. I don't know if that's where it came from or not. Likely though.

No no, it's a promotion (Software Engineer III from II) and a 25% raise. I guess I need to be less grumpy for a while.

There goes your 'kept man' status

Well sadly that went with AG's job being far more challenging and less supported than she expected. I'm on the hook for now, but hey. Life could be considerably worse.

I haven't seen that word used for some time. A friend I used to ride dirt bikes with liked to use it. He was an accountant.

He also liked moribund and pernicious.

Does anyone not like them?

S.J. Perelman used to refer to sinister movie and pulp fiction Asians as “celestials.” Cracked me up.

I like 'em just fine.

Well, if you were moribund with Pernicious Anemia, your affection for them might be a bit restrained.

I need a haircut and a shave so I can reclaim my kempt man status. My hair is starting look like Kelsey Grammer's in the first couple seasons of Frazier. Except white.

Trying to decide what to do tomorrow. Supposed to be 100 for a high and the club rides aren't super exciting. I could drive toward the coast and ride dirt. Probably decide at the last possible moment.

big john 08-05-22 07:15 PM

Larry posted his latest road rash pics in his thread.

How about Gypsy leathers?

You can’t say gypped because it’s from gypsy. Try to avoid.

When I lived in Baltimore in the 1980’s, a co-worker used the word Jew’d in the same context (ie ripped-off), I gave him a very angry look but was more shocked than anything. My hope is that is not said much anymore but who knows?

I am riding with my friends today, but it’s my on-call weekend so inevitably I am going to get paged on the ride and have to stop to put out the fire and let my friends go. My hope is I will be able to get in at least an hour with them, but it’s impossible to predict.

I tell my friends that being on call is a great example of the vagaries of the Poisson distribution, but they roll their eyes and think I am crazy. They might be right.

On another forum, it's ok to say ghetto-rigged. I complained but was over-ruled.

Speaking of anachronism.
"Paged" by your cell phone via text message?
I vote to replace paged with texted. Pagers were gone by the late 90's. TTKU
