Today marks the end of single-use plastic shopping bags (a/k/a Philadelphia tumble weeds) in Philly.
That was one odd thing I encountered during my recent tour. They were nearly impossible to get at stores. I typically don't use them a home, but they come in handy as trash bags when bike camping. To address that problem, I would try to remember to grab a produce bag whenever possible. |

And by the end of this quarter this image will be perfectly seasonal. And while I'm here, what's with the threaded, Ultregra BB on the commuter? Every few weeks it develops an awful click on both power strokes. I take it apart, look at it critically, finger it amorously, lube it randomly, reassemble it, and the click is gone for a while. |

I've just always hated plaid flannel. I remember as a kid when the plaid shorts fashion came around, I was like "ewww".
I'm not much for plaid flannel shirts, either, but in a jacket or vest, they've got a heft and coziness that I like. |

If you weren't dawdling you would have finished in under 2 hours. HTFU.

I got the GPS file for tomorrow's "Savage Century" ride. The amount of climbing is only 7800 feet. Not so savage after all.
My friend told me about a "Hilier than Thou" ride in NJ that is about 12000 feet of climbing for 100 miles. Must investigate.... |
I-24 traffic alert!

Wheels are in motion for Habanero re-build. Wheels ordered from Psimet. Tires ordered from PBK. Groupset sans chain arriving this weekend (chain is backordered).

I went back and looked through the measurements on my bikes, and decided that 2 of them needed an adjustment in bar reach. One was easy - replace a 120mm threadless, 31.8mm clamp, 6 degree stem with a 110mm threadless, 31.8mm clamp, 6 degree stem.
The other one is the Cannondale, though. It's got a threadless headset, but it's a 1" steerer and a 26mm bar. Current stem is a 130mm, 0 degree 3T Forge Ahead I got back in 1995. I thought, "Oh, I'll just get a 120mm version" Yeah, right. I have been looking for one for MONTHS, and all I ever see are 130 or longer. Or 10 degree, which I don't want. Or 25.4 clamp, which I also don't want. Oh, the pain of too many bikes. |
