Repurposed as bar wrap.
I found a box of unused door seal at home of which I pondered, “could it be used as bar tape?”. This is Alien Seal on the chromed bars of this ‘86 Schwinn Sprint. I do very much like that it gives a confident grip.

Not slippery (when wet)? I hope you place the end plugs before ridin', this is dangerous.

Great idea for tape! |
That might be a cool idea to use with strips of fabric wrapped under it. Extra cushioning and endless designs.

Reminds me of my grandparents' living room couch.

interesting idea! does it stay grippy when wet?

I think the bars have end plugs, just hard to see 'cause they look like chrome.

It has end plugs in :foo:
…I get it, they’re hard to pick out in these images. A just concern, understood since childhood. Thanks. The wet grip here seems on par with that of wetted kraton/rubber, wetted cork types, and wetted smooth eva and more open celled foams. I haven’t tried leather |

I think this would be a good base layer for a Newbaum’s cloth wrap
I Like the cushion idea but I think I would use it as a base for a double wrap with a cloth tape like Newbaum’s. I use a modern, cushy tape like Alien Wrap which is pretty inexpensive and then I wrap again with cloth tape for a more vintage look and better grip. Does not come out too bulky and it feels very comfortable.

That's not the sound that I was thinking about....but, ok, it your GM's couch makes a more civilized sound, all the better. If it is not to slippery, as the says and he likes it why not...some may not agree with the aesthetics, but that was not the question being asked..... TETO. Best, Ben |

Best, Ben I was already thinking of artistic ways to make it cool... Go to Joanne's fabric or Michael's and cut into strips, wrap, then wrap on top. Might be cool for urban commuters or something. |
Can't imagine it stays grippy once it's raining? But I love it, looks very alien skin sci fi.
