European champs are live, https://www.eurovisionsports.tv/Euro...ve.html?id=262 |
US Elite Track Nationals are wrapping up. I didn't follow everything.
Anyone got any results or stories? BTW, Gideon Massie rode a 10.4" F200 (Q7) and a 1:04 Kilo (bronze). Not bad for a Masters-aged racer (36). Especially great being that he won the Elite Kilo 8 years ago in 2010...with a 1:04. That dude isn't aging at all, hahahaha. |
I watched a good bit of it on the stream (thanks USAC) saw that Kevin (nslkevin) and his team did some crushing in the TP. I think he missed his goal of 4:45 (maybe 4:48?) in the IP. A couple of people did slower pursuits than expected
|
Results are posted daily at USAC: https://legacy.usacycling.org/result...ear=2018&id=12
They don't show times on there, but I've seen assorted postings in social media. |

That dud isn't aging at all, hahahaha. for the men - the enduro who won the kilo last year doubled up this year, and also got 2nd in the IP with a 4.29. a teenager won the men's scratch race. most of the men on the national team seemed more focused on the team pursuit than on any of the mass start races, which wasn't really the case last year. for the women - jenn valente won everything she could get her hands on, per usual. |

Gideon seems like such an underrated racer now. It's a little bit sad I think.
https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4131/5...18a08655_b.jpg 2010 Elite Nationals Team Sprint I wonder if having him ride a longer custom Tiemeyer or TK1 would have unleashed that extra 1-2% go get him to the international podiums. I wonder if he's riding the 60cm TK1 now. (Random fact: That's my head behind Lakatosh's helmet, BTW, hahaha) |
Massie is "limby" with a shorter torso in relation to his height. He can easily get away with riding a frame that many would say is too small for him. Ondrej Sosenka was a perfect example of this. Guys like this need more saddle to bar drop vs. a longer top tube. A 60cm frame may be too long, even at 6'4".

Unlike last year, there were a lot more men under 11.0 in the F200 and under 1:07 in the kilo. Nice to see some better sprinting depth there. It was a bit disappointing only seeing 8 women reged for the sprint and keirin, about half as many as last year.

Strange that USAC is posting results for timed events with no times. A few years ago at masters nationals they even put up "audit trails" with half-lap splits. Does anyone know if the times for kilo, 500, pursuit and sprint qualifiers will be available?
unfortunately that's your best bet. |

As Queerpunk notes, yes, they someone is posting photos of the heat results printouts to Twitter. But, finding those is like finding a needle in a haystack...especially days, weeks, months, and years after an event. On a related note: The area of the USA Cycling website that deals with event and rider results is awful. No excuse for it to be so bad for so long. They shouldn't have put money into making an app (instead of simply printing cards). They should have modernized and improved their results website. |
I have photos of the M sprint qual and M 4km times, but haven't reached the minimum of 10 posts yet. I'll try sending them to queerpunk and they can share 'em.

Pro Triathlete Jordan Rapp in there.
|
Argon18 sprint bike definitely in development, starting from scratch and should be very very quick
|
Any of you been watching Junior Worlds? A young woman from Germany won just about everything in the sprint stuff; an Aussie kid rode two 1.00.XX kilos. And my mentee rode to 7th in an insanely fast Madison. So I'm pretty chuffed.
|
I've been watching a bit on the youtube replay (not geoblocked! It's a miracle) but still in day1.
Dang... two 1:00:x kilo's is no joke |
The madison was 54.6 kph, so excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.
