12 reasons why you should like vB4

typed in size 4 font so everyone can read it.
  1. It scares away users, reducing server load at peak hours, meaning faster load times.
  2. It teaches you the importance of spending time and money in the proper places.
  3. It improves your brain age, because you have to think long and hard for the correct keywords, since search doesn't work.
  4. It shows you the importance of pre-release product testing.
  5. People using IE can't post new threads, meaning they can't ask silly and repetitive questions
  6. The font is so small when replying to posts, that it prevents old senile people from ever seeing what they've typed.
  7. It brings back childhood memories of an easter egg hunt, only you get to hunt for bugs.
  8. If you like to stare at pleasant stuff, it's a great site to look at.
  9. It teaches you how to buy stock when it's low.
  10. Your cat will love just how flashy this place is and will be glued to the screen.
  11. It makes you ride your bike instead of having you sit on your ass typing away at berated internet pixies.
  12. It makes Windows Vista look like an acceptable product
  13. It aids in your finger strength development by forcing you to click more through a simplified navigation.
  14. It teaches you the "wild goose chase", where you can lodge complaints and get the run around.
  15. It is so complicated, that people get paid to write a manual on how to use it.
  16. It gives business to your local drug store from the painkillers you bought for your headache, caused eyestrain from the forum.
  17. You're assured inconsistent layouts from icons not loading, meanings more fun and hilarity while browsing multi-page threads.
  18. Forces people to a proper computer, as crackberry and iphones don't have the screen capacity.
  19. Shows that a diverse populace of people will put aside their differences and unite to lodge complaints.

wait, that's more than 12... oh well.
I leave this post for all those to see in the future, whenever a newer incarnation of vB comes along, of all the improvements that might have been made over the freshly implemented v4.0. Hopefully they (younger generation) still have a sense of humour in the near future and make their own satire positive reflection.

It made me dig deeper into how Adblock Plus actually works.

WOW, and I thought I was the only guy who's IE was faulty. This new format really sucks. It's got more bugs than a new Windows release. I'm thinking they should cut their losses and abandon it.

Priceless AEO!

I am going away and going without technology for a week. I sure hope this improves while I am gone. It shouldn't be so frustrating...

It's almost like General Motors trying to boost Honda's profit margin by screwing up their own products.

Oh wait, that would never happen.

Evidently I'm not the first person that's wanted to tell Vbulletiin that their program stinks. Coincidence that this is what's now displayed on their Contact Us page?...

I agree wholly, AEO!

After reading the OP in that font, it made the second post (in the default font) seem like it was spelled out using ant droppings.

time to email AEO's list to sales@vbulletin.com

I wonder if this could be a teachable moment way back at vbulletin on who they let into the race to roll their product out the fastest. I know, I know, people fear change...

on all of AEO's points.

My hypothesis is that IB likely has found BF to be either marginally profitable or unprofitable, and therefore uses it as a giant beta test for VB. Sure, Joe was turning a "profit" before its sale, but that was not taking into account the very long term commitment promised to red star members for relatively little money (while fully accounting for the revenue from the red stars). Therefore, since IB also owns VB, they probably decided that since they have to run BF anyways, it is a good place to run the "latest and greatest" version of VB software in order to work out the bugs before the new versions of VB work their way to more critical sites.

I have no numbers to back this up, but one does not roll out the newest software on one's most critical sites first. BF clearly is where they plan to sort out any mess there may be in the latest version of VB. On the bright side, it's better than being in the middle of the totem pole. At least we get some attention since we are basically their beta testers.

you should learn to embrace change, and mock it's failings every step of the way :p

Lol. I have my new sig.:thumb:

Jschen's hypothesis sounds good to me. IB also owns Model Mayhem which is a free site with options to pay for upgraded service. MM is down so much and runs so slow that I'd never, ever consider paying extra just to get rid of ads and display more photos. IB is starting to feel like Starbucks...potential to be great along with ubiquitous, but failing in their quality and nuances.

Brilliant AEO. of course Internet Brands and vBulletin won't pay a moment of attention to it.

don't worry, it's not directed at them, but directed at future BF users, when they get to experience change.
and then they'll know if history repeated itself.

Timber_8 11-29-09 03:27 PM

I am sure we will all get use to it, I all ready forget what the other board looked like

Luddite 11-29-09 03:29 PM

Well, you're still here and perhaps not wearing wrist braces...what a difference 4 years makes.

It was good for us to guineapig vB4, the proof is in all the other forums sites I see, all improved since we pioneered this platform.
