12 reasons why you should like vB4
typed in size 4 font so everyone can read it.
wait, that's more than 12... oh well. I leave this post for all those to see in the future, whenever a newer incarnation of vB comes along, of all the improvements that might have been made over the freshly implemented v4.0. Hopefully they (younger generation) still have a sense of humour in the near future and make their own satire positive reflection. |
It made me dig deeper into how Adblock Plus actually works.

WOW, and I thought I was the only guy who's IE was faulty. This new format really sucks. It's got more bugs than a new Windows release. I'm thinking they should cut their losses and abandon it.

Priceless AEO!
I am going away and going without technology for a week. I sure hope this improves while I am gone. It shouldn't be so frustrating... |
It's almost like General Motors trying to boost Honda's profit margin by screwing up their own products.
Oh wait, that would never happen. |
Evidently I'm not the first person that's wanted to tell Vbulletiin that their program stinks. Coincidence that this is what's now displayed on their Contact Us page?...
"Please pardon our dust while we remodel a bit. This contact page is being re-worked at the moment, but will be back online soon. Meanwhile, please email us at sales@vbulletin.com" |
I agree wholly, AEO!
|
After reading the OP in that font, it made the second post (in the default font) seem like it was spelled out using ant droppings.

"Please pardon our dust while we remodel a bit. This contact page is being re-worked at the moment, but will be back online soon. I know, I know, people fear change... |
+100000000000000000000
on all of AEO's points. |
My hypothesis is that IB likely has found BF to be either marginally profitable or unprofitable, and therefore uses it as a giant beta test for VB. Sure, Joe was turning a "profit" before its sale, but that was not taking into account the very long term commitment promised to red star members for relatively little money (while fully accounting for the revenue from the red stars). Therefore, since IB also owns VB, they probably decided that since they have to run BF anyways, it is a good place to run the "latest and greatest" version of VB software in order to work out the bugs before the new versions of VB work their way to more critical sites.
I have no numbers to back this up, but one does not roll out the newest software on one's most critical sites first. BF clearly is where they plan to sort out any mess there may be in the latest version of VB. On the bright side, it's better than being in the middle of the totem pole. At least we get some attention since we are basically their beta testers. |
you should learn to embrace change, and mock it's failings every step of the way :p

Jschen's hypothesis sounds good to me. IB also owns Model Mayhem which is a free site with options to pay for upgraded service. MM is down so much and runs so slow that I'd never, ever consider paying extra just to get rid of ads and display more photos. IB is starting to feel like Starbucks...potential to be great along with ubiquitous, but failing in their quality and nuances.

Brilliant AEO. of course Internet Brands and vBulletin won't pay a moment of attention to it.
