I bit the bullet and ordered a Garmin 530. I found a decent priced one on ScamBay. It’s got way more functionality than I want or need. I just need a head unit that will give route directions and play nice with my Varia radar and NOT crap out after 2-3 hours as my 130 has been doing. I am optimistic this will fit the bill.

I'm itiching to ride the Litespeed tomorrow. I noticed a click/creak from the cleat/pedal/crank/BB area last ride, which was worse under load, didn't go away when standing (thus probably not saddle), but didn't manifest itself when pedaling with only one leg. I swapped pedals, which also swaps shoes, and we'll see.

I thought you were going for the karoo? Or did I have you mixed up with someone else here. |
Set the ERG at 165 watts today and rode that for 2 hours. According to intervals the upper level of zone 2 is around 172 watts, and my other zone 2 work outs were around 150 watts. I read an article this morning about the importance of zone 2 for training but specifically keeping it close to zone 3 without going to zone 3.
Anyways, it was hard. My heart rate didn’t go up or anything like that, my legs just got tired. I was kind of surprised, but I was able to finish. Not sure where I am going with this. Thank you for reading. |

I ended up doing the 62 mile ride with the club but only 6 riders total. It's so much nicer to not be the slowest, there were 2 slower than I am, but not much. One was a lady who I rode with a few times in the past but she was clearly off her game. Found out she blacked out on a ride and crashed a few months ago. Don't know if they ever figured out what happened but she is on beta blockers or some such thing. Anyway she did fine and we had a good ride with very little trouble from the wind until the last few miles going north. Glad I chose this ride instead of the century with the faster riders.

stayed between 129 and 136. I meant as it started to feel harder my heart rate didn’t go up. |

I've been wearing a full bushy beard since time immemorial. I shaved off the bulk of it with the onset of Delta, and again with the onset of Omicron. for mask sealage, and caught Omicron anyway. It is growing out faster than ever. If it wasn't for it being blond, I could be a stubble guy for a few weeks.
