It was a total ****show and the game, as a whole, says more about the Vikings coaching than it does anything else (Cowboys included). We have the personnel to contend for a title, but we have a play-calling philosophy that belongs in the 80s.

Unless you're tall, then you might opt for headbutting the sign instead of a pole :)

I wasn't sure if Cousins was that bad or if there just wasn't any communication or what was going on.
Zim just has them playing the game in a manner to keep the score low. The philosophy pretty much seems to be, "well, we win 70% of the games where we keep the opponent under 20 pts, so let's concentrate on that." Unless they're really behind the 8-ball, he wants them chewing up the clock on offense - pounding the run and dinking and dunking the pass. Sure, that keeps games low-scoring, but it also keeps opponents close enough for anything to happen - look at any of their games this year for evidence of that. Once the Vikes fail to move the chains on an attempted 8min, 15-play drive, they have to give the ball over to an opponent that's always within striking distance. Someone needs to point out to Zim that the Vikings win 100% of the games in which they out-score their opponents. |
I've become a typical Californian - stress out through August, September and October about fire, celebrate the first rain when it comes, then a week later start resenting rainy days. Only took 40 years.
Of course, it's good to have actual rain. A few years ago, one year when I was riding a lot but not as much as the last two years, I was building up to a "Ride Your Age" ride for my birthday, which is in mid-November. I'd built up to a 55 mile ride, and had planned my route for 61 miles, even planned to take the day off of work. Then in mid October we got hit with heavy smoke, and it lasted for most of the next month - fires to the North of us, and the offshore flow would push the smoke out over the ocean. Then onshore flow would blow it into the Bay Area. It was essentially unrideable for weeks, and literally the first day when the air wasn't hazardous was my birthday, which was also the first storm of the season and then it seemed like we had storms every weekend for the rest of the month. |

I guess we can add "****show" to the "I would have thought that would be censored" list.

So one of my friends was riding home after the Sunday ride, the roads were wet and he was 1/4 mile from home, a pedestrian walking on the WRONG side of the road (ie on the right side) made a U-turn without looking right as my friend was coming by, which caused him to take evasive action and he went down. He was not badly injured. He yelled at the woman that she should look before she turns around, but she apparently told him the crash was HIS fault because he was going "too fast."
Apparently the difference of opinion escalated to back-forth arguments on some "Next Door" website which sounds like FaceBook but defined by neighborhood. Sad. |

I guess. The thing that struck me, in my case, was the xenophobia/thinly-veiled racism in my "progressive" neighborhood. "Three young black guys walked by early this morning. They were wearing hoodies and they didn't really respond when I said 'good morning.' I just got the wrong feeling from that, so I tried to follow them from a distance, but I lost them. Should I call the cops?" This is, unfortunately, the paraphrasing of an actual post on ND that turned in to a raging dumpster fire and hastened my departure.
