I’m loving the EV around town. Not too crazy about taking it on a trip as doing so requires a lot of planning and allocation of time for charging.
On the plus side - it hasn’t burned a drop of oil. |

Before I Switched companies I wouldn’t have needed a car, but once I start actually flying I will have to have a car.
Plus I want to drive back to dallas this time around. I won’t have time to fly home, and 4 weeks with out car access is a long time. I’ve bought several cars from out of town dealers, and either flew or drove to pick them up. Current car was brought from a Tulsa dealer. |
I bet a deal could be done on this little honey.
The mullet of cars. All business up front, and a party out back. I bet a bike would even fit. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...817c55311.jpeg |

Here’s another thought for you. Once you decide on “the car”, shop the DFW dealers. I saw the local Mazdadealer is discounting the CX5, for example. If you can get a better deal, you could buy here and pick it up on your next trip down and then drive it home.

My buddy did that last year with his eTron, bought it from some dealer on the Cape- went out and picked it up and drove it home. Cost him less than his Honda Pilot after credit, rebate and dealer discount. |

However, just this week I had the LSS mow the small side lawn because that's where I've been taking ambulatory Venus to relieve herself and it was giving me the heebie-jeebies to walk out there with her in the long, wet growth. I had little choice, it's been foggy and wet for a week, had to just pick a day and get 'er done. |

Busy morning for a Saturday. Must be wintertime.
But isn't there supposed to be some kind of cycling contest or something going on around here? |

Agree with this, by this time next year they’ll probably be giving them away.

Well, wish we could wait, but it’s not suppose to get better until 2023.
As soon as the company announced the bonus money my car blew up, so we are down to one car. My car will cost about 2000 to fix, but it’s not worth 1500. I don’t think I can trade in a broken car. My wife just needs to decide what’s important to her. Not having a car payment or having something better than basic. She deserves more than basic but she’s also in charge of the money situation and knows what gets paid when and where. I’m a bystander. I want her to be happy, and not to have buyer remorse. |

I've heard they burn oil like Willie Nelson burns the cannabis weed. According to my brother who has one and is a mechanic.

In an extreme seller's market, it may actually make better economic sense to fix the old car and wait till next year. We went through this with Mrs.GeneJockey's beloved 2001 Sienna - we were facing several thousand dollars of potential work, on a car worth about the same number of thousands, or a bit less. But apart from not being able to get it smog certified, the car is in great shape, and Mrs. GJ loves it. So we were planning to drop the cash, when by sheer luck, the issue resolved itself.
265,000 miles, no A/c and the a/c wasn’t even part of the price to fix the car. If it was in better shape I would agree but at this point it’s like a boat and I don’t want to sink anymore money into it. |

We got a stern warning from Chevrolet to stop doing that. They'll still do it sometimes.

Can confirm. My 2002 definitely did. Then I got the Dodge which doesn't even burn a quart over the 10,000 miles between oil changes. BTW, the 10,000 miles between changes is based on what it tells me it wants.

Now that the dew has dried on the grass, it's time cut it. I hope this is the last or penultimate time.

But actually broken, and at 265K - probably time to say goodbye. |

Dork of the month? A handful of us meet up each month at a different LDS to sample their offerings and shoot the breeze. |
