The rear tire on the Seven was flat this morning. Took a look at the tire before pulling out the tube and found a scuff on the sidewall like from a rock. The tube had a big hole like it would from a pinch flat, like when I tried to put air in it the air leaked out so fast it was hard to tell where it was leaking. How did I ride to the end of the ride on Tuesday, up a small climb, a 20 minute car ride, then put it in the garage without it going flat?
Did someone sneak it out and ride it and put it back? Maybe it was weakened and the super high temp in the garage finished it off? |

The guy on Ebay with the 24" 1988 Schwinn Circuit frame and fork dropped his opening bid last night, so I set up a snipe and got it. Paid too much, IMO, but I can't think of any other way to get the correct fork with a long enough steerer for the 23" frame. The 23" has a complete Sante BB in good condition, which is nice. I washed it this morning and the next step was to polish the paint with Scratch-X. The frame came from Colorado, so although there are a LOT of chips in the paint I see no rust. I touched it up with the paint I used on the 22" Circuit.

Was the rider a part of the group, like way off the front? Or did the group happen along the accident during the course of the ride? Either way, it’s a tragedy for the rider and his family. My friends did say that, as is typical, cyclists of all abilities were on the road and were misbehaving, riding 5 abreast, sometimes crossing the center line, etc., if you have ever done an organized big ride like a charity ride you know this. It’s raining and likely to rain all day. So no ride. On the leaderboard I think I have KOM sewn up, but barely on the podium and I expect to be kicked off today, as is the custom.
